Editorial Review:
NEO MILITARY LAWYER KAFFEE DEFENDS MARINES ACCUSED OF MURDER: THEY CONTEND THEY WERE ACTING UNDER ORDERS OF THEIR IMPERIOUS CO, JESSUP.
Description of A Few Good Men (Special Edition):
A U.S. soldier is dead, and military lawyers Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee and Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway want to know who killed him. "You want the truth?" snaps Colonel Jessup (Jack Nicholson). "You can't handle the truth!" Astonishingly, Jack Nicholson's legendary performance as a military tough guy in A Few Good Men really amounts to a glorified cameo: he's only in a few scenes. But they're killer scenes, and the film has much more to offer. Tom Cruise (Kaffee) shines as a lazy lawyer who rises to the occasion, and Demi Moore (Galloway) gives a command performance. Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland, J.T. Walsh, and Cuba Gooding Jr. (of Jerry Maguire fame) round out the superb cast. Director Rob Reiner poses important questions about the rights of the powerful and the responsibilities of those just following orders in this classic courtroom drama. --Alan Smithee
A Few Good Men (Special Edition) Reviews:
Beyond "order" and "conscience".
2009-11-01 - Of this movie, Judith Crist from "Coming Attractions" says, "Riveting. Jack Nicolson and Tom Cruise at their ferociously impassioned best." Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore star in Rob Reiner's unanimously acclaimed drama about the dangerous difference between following orders and following one's conscience. Cruise stars as a brash Navy lawyer who's teamed with a gungho litigator (Moore) in a politically explosive murder case. Charged with defending two Marines accused of killing a fellow soldier they are confronted with complex issues of loyalty and honor-including its most sacred code and its most formidable warrior (Nicholson). Superbly directed with a trio of powerhouse performances and and outstanding supporting cast including KEVIN POLLACK, KIEFER SUTHERLAND, and KEVIN BACON, A FEW GOOD MEN IS "entertainment to be seen and appreciated...consistently gripping" (Desson Howe, WAshington POst).
One of my favorites!
2009-08-30 - Blue Ray is just a plus since this is one of my all-time favorite movies. Great movie to add to the Blue Ray Colection I am starting.
Fine
2009-08-10 - The movie is great, I had seen it before buying it but watching it in blu-ray was a great experience.
A few Good Men is a classic
2009-07-30 - I absolutely love A Few Good Men. I have watched it at least 30 times. It was Tom Cruise at his most wonderful! And who can forget the incredible exchange between Tom and Jack Nicholson that erupts into "You can't handle the truth!!!" absolutely wonderful!!
"Tom Cruise Is Impeccable!"
2009-04-23 - "A Few Good Men" is not only one of my favorite movies, but is my favorite Tom Cruise film. Released in the early '90s, the picture is about a United States lawyer working for the Morine Corps, who is hired to defend two young men accused of the accidental killing of a fellow officer. The film is cast with some of Hollywood's best actors, most notably Jack Nicholson, in a hair-raising performance as a Navy Officer who is commander-in-chief, who harbors a dark secret. Demi Moore and Kevin Bacon round out the cast and give remarkable performances.
Most of the exteriors were shot in Washington, DC. The film was directed by Rob Reiner, whose previous blockbuster credit was "Misery".
"A Few Good Men" was released on DVD in the late '90's as a barebones edition, albeit in widescreen, but this particular set comes with full audio commentary by Rob Reiner, as well as trailers, and a documentary on the film.
Tom Cruise has also never looked so good!
