Editorial Review:
If you thought Dennis Miller was done ranting, guess again. In Still Ranting After All These Years, recorded in early 2002, Miller is in fine form, commenting on everything from "War and Terrorism" to Enron; from "Obsessed Parents" to the "End of Class;" to "Truth in the Media," and so much more. Throughout, Miller is what we have come to expect from him: smart, cutting, laugh-out-loud funny, and more times than not ... right.
Still Ranting After All These Years Reviews:
Very few laughs.
2009-03-02 - This 2 CD set provided very few laughs. Maybe 4-5 laughs. Not worth the money.
Don't Bother
2008-08-22 - If you are looking for something funny, don't bother buying this! Even if you are only play ing for the shipping/handling its not worth the money. This is NOT funny. It is pretty boring. I liked Dennis Miller's show on HBO, but not this CD. Its not worth any stars.
" How can I believe what's coming out of your mouth when your scalp is screaming LIAR?" Slurred, rambling, and not very funny.
2008-05-26 - I used to be a big fan of Miller's comedy from way back, when he used to satirize everyone on all sides of the political spectrum. But his unfortunate lurch to the far-right post 9/11 meant he immediately stopped making jokes about Conservatives or Republicans, including George W Bush because in Miller's words " I don't make jokes about my friends". (yuck)
To be a comedian and not make jokes about the current president, especially one of the least competent or popular presidents ever, is completely missing the point of being a comedy satirist.
As it is , there's precious little to laugh at here.
It's probably the loss of his talented HBO writers, but the rants here compared to the snappy and funny rants of old sound overlong, light on gags, and very badly delivered. Miller sounds like he recorded this CD after a 15 hour flight from Australia - he slurs his words and stumbles over punchlines like a tired old man, spoiling whatever point he's trying to make.
Not that his arguments are that convincing in the first place. A bitchy jibe at newsman Sam Donaldson for wearing a wig when Miller has himself had hairplugs sewn into his head to hide his own baldness is hypocrisy of the highest order.
(To quote Miller here, " How can I believe what's coming out of your mouth when your scalp is screaming LIAR?")
Don't do what I did and try listening to this CD whilst driving on a long jouney. You'll need to pull over several times to stop falling asleep at the wheel. Avoid at all costs.
Dennis Miller takes a everyday's guy view of the world
2007-01-03 - Dennis is a wonderful comedian, I laugh and find myself thinking how smart he is. He looks at life and the events in the world the way most everyday guy's would. He isn't to shy to call a spade a spade. He makes sense in most of the stuff he talks about. IF strong language offends, this might not be your cup of tea. Dennis Miller is delightfully funny, has an interesting take on the crazies of the world. Worth the price of the DVD.
this was terrible
2006-06-14 - If 0 stars was an option i would have selected it. this is the dryest, dullest delivered comedy i've ever heard. I should actually say that he had no delivery whatsoever. this was definately a waste of money.
