Editorial Review:
Det. Alonzo Harris is on the streets. Somebody call the cops. Denzel Washington departed from his frequent good-guy roles and received a 2001 Best Actor Oscar® for his fiercely charismatic Training Day [Side A] portrayal of Harris, a narco officer whose brutal brand of law enforcement make him the type of thug he's supposed to collar. Ethan Hawke portrays the idealistic rookie on his first day of patrol with Harris. Supernatural thrills mix with gritty excitement in Fallen [Side B]. Washington portrays a relentless cop on the trail of a murderous satanic force that passes from one human host to another with the simple brush of a passing overcoat or touch of a hand. Catch this demon and there'll be hell to pay.
Training Day / Fallen (Double Feature) Reviews:
DENZEL
2009-08-18 - DENZEL IS TYPECAST, WHAT CAN I SAY. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM PERFORM OUTSIDE OF HIS USUAL BAD GUY SCENES/
Great deal for a great price.
2009-04-08 - (This is not a review of the movies themselves; you can look at the IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, or MetaCritic websites to get a wide view of people's opinions, if you're so inclined.)
If you've never seen or don't have either of these movies, this "double feature" dvd is a great deal. The picture is good quality, and each movie is complete with extras; somewhat surprising, since it's a double-sided dvd, rather than two dvds in one case.
This is a great chance to get two good movies, without taking up as much space or spending as much on shipping.
A definite bargain!!!
2009-01-14 - I already reviewed "Training Day" but I forgot about Fallen until I stumbled across this deal...
Fallen is a 1998 "flick" with a "Seven" feel. Denzel plays Detective John Hobbes. Hobbes is being followed by what seems to be the spirit of executed serial killer Edgar Reese (Elias Koteas) who Hobbes arrested and sent to the Gas Chamber...
What revails as the truth is much deeper and much darker...Time is definately not on Hobbes side.
A bargain!
2007-07-01 - More of these double and triple featues are starting to show up, with their original screen ratio and as separate discs in a single case. This one pairs two excellent films, and for the cost is quite a steal. Let's hope all the studios invest in this trend with their catalog items.
