Description of All for You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio:
All for You is a tribute to the Nat "King" Cole Trio of the 1940s, when Cole performed as both a singer and a pianist. Krall, like her heroes Lena Horne and Carmen McRae, is also a singer-pianist, and she plays both roles on most of the songs here. She's able to link her singing to her piano playing in sympathetic ways and projects tremendous feeling through both. Like Cole in the '40s, Krall plays with a drummerless trio--here with guitarist Russell Malone and bassist Paul Keller. Their sense of intimate rapport is especially valuable on ballads such as "You Call It Madness" and "I'm Thru with Love," but also allows such uptempo tunes as "Hit That Jive Jack" to swing with surprising lightness. --Geoffrey Himes

2009-12-13 - All for You might be an older CD/album but it is so great. Diana Krall has never disappointed, she produces wonder jazz and easy listen works.

2009-11-13 - Like it. Love it. Live in Paris will always be in my top 5. She is a star with this incredible band. Some of her originals are too melancholy for me, but she is truly unique in her talents. Who else can compose, sing and play jazz piano like that? Who was the girl?

2009-07-06 - Although this is one of Ms. Krall's earlier cds, it's still one of my favorites. I am so enraptured by her rich and resonating voice and she leaves me wanting more and more of her interpretations.

A well mastered CD. Excellent sound quality. Something other recording companies should follow. The copy I have is made in the E.U. I bought it for US$6 from Planet M, Mumbai, IN.
The bad:
I listen to all kinds of music. I take risks while purchasing CDs all the time & I have discovered some great gems along the way. Nina Simone was one such great discovery for me. I bought this CD based on positive reviews here on Amazon. This is by far the most difficult music I have ever heard. It takes a long time to grow on you. I'll never buy CDs ever again without listening to samples. But never mind, it puts me to sound sleep in the night. Lol.
