Miss All American Beauty Reviews: Attention Razzie awards! Most hilarious nervous breakdown by a leading actress 2009-08-18 - It would appear that the creators of this movie are the mothers of pageant girls, hoping nice girls who really ARE beautiful inside and out, will see this and won't want to be in a pageant. DO NOT BUY IT. Enter and give those beyaches a run for their money! What they're really afraid of is that you'll win and make their girls look bad. The argument is pretty fierce, I mean, DL has a breakdown from the pressure that could scare you away...if it wasn't so hilarious! My advice? Just get through the wooden delivery of embarrassingly bad lines til the breakdown at 1:21:00...the temptation to eject the disc and scrub yourself clean of the memory will happen much earlier, with lines like: "[hotels] are just home now, i can't judge" "it's just me" "I know all the airline menus by heart" "you get used to it" "Digicore Incorporated wants you to make a speech after all" (except for Cloris Leachman of course, who is a treat throughout in spite of this). But do wait for it...I assure you that after the breakdown, the movie gets funnier and funnier and ultimately proves itself a pinnacle of bad taste.
Generic tv movie 2006-02-19 - I rented this because of Diane Lane. I have to admit I didn't think it would be too good and I got what I excepted.
Diane Lane plays a naive Texas girl who wins a national beauty contest. She realizes that it isn't all it's cracked up. She has to leave behind her loved ones and live up to the phony image. It doesn't take her long before she's disillusioned. It's like an after school special minus the cheese. Cloris Leachman is her mentor and she does her usual eccentric character well.
Diane is pretty here and does the best job she can with a weak cliche script. There is one serious scene with a blue eyeliner that was unintentionally hilarious. For an example of a young Lane the charming A Little Romance is a better recommendation.
