    Saw IV (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
Continued commitment to suspence 5 Star Review
2009-05-09 - I have been a fan of the "Saw" series from the beginning. Although I never paid to see them in a theatre, I have enjoyed them at home. I presumed that the complexities of the genre would diminish the "reality" of the subsequent movies; I have been pleasently and thouroughly surprised by the "believability" of the Jigsaw campaign to teach lessons and influence people. When "Saw VI" is released I, again, will wait and watch it at home. I would like to see Director James Wan in charge of the next movie because I believe the direction in the first movie was the best of the five. I, also, hope that Hoffman, Koules, and Burg produce a film that will continue to stretch the limits of the audience's pulse by making the plot continually more complex without making the gruesomeness predictable, i.e. "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Friday the 13th", and "Halloween".

AS FORTH INSTALLMENTS GO..... SAW IV IS NOT BAD! 3 Star Review
2009-03-25 - OK, I'm a sucker for watching scumbags getting their due and 'Saw IV' delivers a very fast paced crime drama with plenty of blood and gore. The folks cranking out these movies know a couple of things that work.

    1)Fast pacing
    2)Keep the films short!
    3)Hire decent actors

I must admit I wasn't expecting much from a 4th installment in the series, but it did hold my interest and I found the tension pretty high. If I had one problem with the film, it would be the ending. I just wasn't too clear on what I had witnessed. I'm not saying I don't get it, but I would have liked it to be as clear as the rest of the film. I thought it was clever to do a film about events that were happening at the same time as another film in the series. So I'm not really sure if this could be considered a true sequel? If your a fan of the series, 'Saw IV' doesn't really disappoint.

    SAW IV 5 Star Review
2009-01-22 - So, it is all starting to come together the entire SAW series keeps you on the edge of your seat. The twist and the truths that come out in this one leaves you wanting more.

BETTER THAN III 4 Star Review
2008-08-15 - I liked both SAW I and II, but III left me not wanting to see any more.

But I'm glad I DID finally see SAW IV. It was MUCH better than III was and surprisingly entertaining as well.

If you can get past the gruesome autopsy at the beginning of the movie, the rest is pure SAW I and II fun, with a good history of how Jigsaw got to be as evil as he is.

Definitely worth a look for you horror fans out there and especially for those of you that DID like the first 2 SAW films.

nice, but IT'S ENOUGH ALREADY! 4 Star Review
2008-08-15 - After the death of Jigsaw, I guess you can be excused to have a final wrap-up movie with some prequel scenes showing how everything started. And this movie also tries to show how Jigsaw 'inspires' someone to fill his bloody shoes. And this movie does a decent job at wrapping itself around the concept of having 'a new rat' run through a maze of gore in Jigsaw's post-mortem attempt at having his work live on. This is a decent gore movie, and there is an argument for saying it was worth making this flick to bring the Saw chronicles to a close. But, seriously...IT'S ENOUGH ALREADY!!! This film is worth getting, and it is good, but this franchise has outlived its usefulness. I hear they are putting out a Saw 5 in the fall, and even though I have enjoyed the series, I have to say, "You gotta be kidding me!!!" Oh well, back to this movie. The guy who plays the mother's 'backwards hat boyfriend' on The Gilmore Girls is pretty good as the respectable, smart, tough FBI agent in this flick. The premise is good enough that I can be generous about giving this film a 4 star rating. There's plenty of gore. There is even a reasonable attempt at giving a plot in the prequel sequences that explain how Jigsaw began his reign of blood and terror...kind of. This is worth getting if you're a die-hard Saw fan. It's even almost worth getting if you're just a morbid fan of the grotesque and bizarre. It's not the worst Saw movie out there, although I would have enjoyed it more if it had my girl Shawnee Smith in it....but my final word to the makers of Saw is: IT'S ENOUGH ALREADY! Gore movies are cool, but move on....!
