Home Reviews:
Home
2009-02-08 - Home is fifty-one minutes and forty-two seconds long and was released on August 27, 2002. Home reached #1 on the US Top Country Album, U.S. Billboard 200 Album Charts (five weeks at #1), and Top Internet Albums and went 6× Multi-platinum. Home release six singles. Home took home five Grammys. The album won two Grammies in 2003; one for Best Country Album and another for Best Recording Package. The cassette is a mixture of country, bluegrass, and pop. The songs are great especially the banjo solo on some of the songs. The cassette is a must for Dixie Chicks fans. Home by Dixie Chicks gets an AAA+++.

The newest album by this talented trio from Texas is the best album they have ever accomplished so far after filing lawsuit with Sony over royalties and as a result, they signed a new contract with Sony allowing them to open their own imprint, Open Wide Records and the recording is only distributed by Sony. The album is all acoustic and does salute their varied influences very well ranging from Stevie Nicks (a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic "Landslide"), southern country-rock, and the country-folk they started out doing before they became superstars and of course. Several of the songs were co-written by at least one of the members of the band. BTW, the groups intends no harm to country radio when they sing about country music on the radio today in "Long Time Gone," the rousing opening track of the album. "White Trash Wedding," written by all 3 members of the Dixie Chicks, is another highlight of the album, and also a cover of Bruce Robison's "Travelin' Soldier" is another highlight of the album. There is even a song dedicated to Natalie's son, "Lil' Jack Slade." The album was produced by the Dixie Chicks's and Natalie's father and steel guitar legend, Lloyd Maines.
This is a 2 LP set which enhances the cover artwork dramatically over the CD, but instead of using a "gatefold" design in the packaging, they use a standard LP jacket and to preserve the sound quality of the album rather than compress some out of the dynamics of the recording, they divided 3 songs per side, as explained above, over the 2 LPs in the set and as a result, you get high quality vinyl on the album. If you have kept your turntable, and want some great new classic styled country music which as Alanna Nash has said has brought the front porch back to the mainstream, get the 2 LP set of the Dixie Chicks's new album simply entitled "Home."
