Weirdly marketed as a right-wing screed upon its initial release in 1973, Walking Tall is really a tragic, shockingly violent post-noir film based on various legends surrounding real-life Southern sheriff Buford Pusser. Joe Don Baker (The Natural) gives a powerful performance as Pusser, who took on determined forces of crime and corruption in his town at great personal expense. Directed with an intentionally crude force by Phil Karlson (Kansas City Confidential), one of the toughest filmmakers of the 1950s, the film's grimness does not let up, but in the end it is more likely to break hearts than turn stomachs. --Tom Keogh

2009-12-12 - Older classic.....great watch!!! (And I was a fighting watching this movie, because I told my boyfriend and son that it was a guys movie-ha-ha)

2009-11-30 - Researching Louise Hathcock, Towhead White, and the State Line Mob. Have been to the scene where the restaurant, motel, and the site where Mrs. Pusser was killed.
There is still tile from the restaurant in the woods. The poles are still there that held the sign for the motel. Eerie.
Good movie, but wish it had been more factual.

2009-10-26 - I thought I was buying the original with joe baker, but instead recieved a copy of the new one starring The Rock. I am pissed. Their description is a lie. I heard the original is awesome, but now I dont know how I'm going to find a copy of it. And now I have 2 copies of the stupid one with the Rock.

2009-10-02 - My son thought the Rocks version was good, didn't know it was based on a true movie, even though I like the Rock version this one is a lot better with more detail. It makes you feel more emotions and gets you to want the justice that is needed.
Walking Tall, Buford Pusser, Part 1
2009-09-05 - I recently purchased the original WALKING TALL movie (part 1) which is about Sheriff Buford Pusser. The DVD and its box are in great condition. This movie is sometimes a hard movie to find. I was able to locate it here on Amazon and purchase it for a good price.
