Heartbeat Reviews:
A musical masterpiece for DJ
2009-10-15 - Back in 1986 when it was released, I bought a cassette tape of this album. It was a big gamble as I thought it was like another David Hasselhoff move to record an album to take advantage of his TV series popularity Knight Rider. Yes this album came out when when every kid was going gaga over Miami Vice, Wayfarer shades, suit-over-shirt fasion and Espadrille shoes.
Heartbeat - was a very good opener for the album with its catchy beat and crisp instrumentation that would take you to the edge of your seat. I like this song better played while on the road as this qualifies much better as a driving music.
Voice On A Hotline - on the otherhand is smooth themed ballad proving is Jonas brothers material. His voice is as good as his good looks.
Last Sound Love Makes - is a fast upbeat track that spells a lot of musical fan.
Lost In Your Eyes - another killer ballad that would snap every woman's undies.
Coco Don't - is a pop-influenced track with happy mood kind of instrumentation.
Heartache Away - I would say is the best track in the album spiced up by Bonnie Raitt's soulful voice in the later part of the song. Guitar riffs is so awesome and clean.
Star Tonight - is the next notable track in the album with a wonderful vocal harmony contribution of Willie Nelson. DJ truly can sing side by side with powerful artists. He is comparable to Kevin Bacon and Bruce Willis.
The rest of the tracks of the album are no fillers. They are wonderful songs as well that makes this album like a compilation album. It's DJ's debut album. He also co-penned several tracks in the album making him a true artist. It's a must-have!
Awesome Don Johnson CD!!
2009-05-15 - This is an awesome Don Johnson CD with many excellent players on it such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chas Sanford, Dweezil Zappa, Bonnie Rait (some vocals), Ron Wood, Willy Nelson and others. I could listen to this CD over and over again!!!
80's POP
2008-03-04 - Some good 80's pop on here. Not every song is great, but there are a lot of catchy songs on Heartbeat. If you're not a fan of 80's pop, or if you don't like Don Johnson, you're unlikely to like this music. But, if the listener is willing to listen unbiased, then they might find something likeable about Heartbeat.
Tell me what you feel now without the heartbeat.
2005-12-26 - This album features Miami Vice star Don Johnson singing '80s style pop/rock songs. It's pretty boring stuff, even though the title song was a Top 5 hit. Somehow, he managed to get people like Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Ron Wood and Stevie Ray Vaughan to contribute to the album, but it didn't help much.
