Systematic Chaos Reviews:
Keep getting better 5 Star Review
2007-08-24 - After Octavaium you'd think these guys couldn't improve on themselves anymore. This album tells you anything is possible. Gets even better if listened to more often.

Making music for food 3 Star Review
2007-06-17 - 1. ITPOE Pt 1 - Very cool

2. Forsaken has a nice Piano -keys intro and a good groove till the 2:00 muinute something.

3. Constant Motion n- Intro - very ELP. Listen to the Tarkus intro then listen to this again. Got it?? Vocals sounds more like Dreamtallica. Vocals and snare et al sounds Dreamtallica. Fantastic groove overall.

4. Dark Eternal Light - Sounds more like a more sophisticated version of Primus. Kick and snare are not 2-1,2-1 as Primus but 3-1-6-1-6 or something like that but it sure sounds POrk Soda- Oink Oink sing along after two bars and say

"My name is Mud...... chances are you'll be on the beat dead on.

5. Prophets of war - If you missed Cher's last gig at a discotheque, look no further. I could expect talent lacking acts with a heap of mediocrity to do this electronic thing i.e. Frooty Loopy. Fortunately Rudess closed Frooty Loops at the 1:12 minute timestamp, just when it was beginning to sound like Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh or Madonna. This could well be some DJ's food till the 1:12 minute from intro and then again later. Funny though, but it sound's like Petshop Boys "Go West" soon after with more color added in from Rudess' space sound keys. Sing along and say "Go West ......from the 1:35 minute mark to 2:26.I'm sure Weird AL would love to get his hands on a redo of the lyrics. Repeat and sing "Go west ... when ever you get a chance...... (even wear those funny tapering party hats like in the Petshop Boys video if you have to).

6. Ministry of Lost souls sounds good but the mellow bit goes to Repentance with a Yes touch. In its entirety the song has sketchy patches from other older albums like SFAM and thats not good. It just goes to show you that their creativity is getting saturated in much the same way as Dylan's depressing lyrics.

7. ITPOE Pt II - This I think, is just where DT put all the hard work for the year at Avatar. 16:38 minutes of sheer brilliance from beginning to end. A kind of "hey" thing looping at the 6th minute and the stink of Dreamtallica again. Then there's that smell of ELP Tarkus/Trilogy, Keith Emerson at the keys at the 9:23 minute and 10:23 minute keyboard parts and hence sounds like Hoedown. Does Emerson know that some of his ideas are mish mashed in Jordan's riffs? JOrdan's original lead in scales at the later part of this epic is indeed enthralling and awe inspiring. Makes my fingers itch for practice. The lyrics sound quite relevant to the US occupation of Iraq.
Talking of feel in DT- there is none after Kevin Moore left the band, to pursue 'feel' in Turkey's Okul release.

Overall a cool album and I am not totally disappponited. A lot of demons and dark masters on this one unlike previous albums of more palatable surreal lyrics and DT's becoming gothic Epic with SC. Who knows their next album could have castles, ogres and vampires and I'm outta here. If you mute your ears from listening to all those silly demons and like stuff that this album talks about in some songs, you would appreciate the virtuostic content better.I would appreciate it a lot if the band had worked out longer to produce an album,in say two years, of quality creativity rather than within a year. Thats because when I hear the same patches of older DT masterpieces in the new material, the words "WILL MAKE MUSIC FOR FOOD" starts to register in my mind. I think it would go well to advise all of you to buy the Cds off the shelf rather than download so DT can live "ANOTHER DAY".

Let me be the first... 5 Star Review
2007-04-20 - ...to say that this album kicks all kinds of ash in all kinds of ways. JP's playing is phenomenal, MP's drums dominate, and JR has a few moments in the sun. Oh, and sometimes there's some singing. But seriously, one of the best albums ever. Buy it.
