"Buckle up for this amusing, exciting and hilarious adventure" (Janet Stokes, Film Advisory Board, Inc.) with everyone's favorite inquisitive little monkey! When The Man In The Yellow Hat befriends Curious George in the jungle, they set off on a non-stop, fun-filled journey through the wonders of the big city toward the warmth of true friendship. Featuring the voice talents of Will Ferrell, Drew Barrymore and an all-star cast, Curious George is ""a family classic"" (Dean Richards, WGN-TV) that will have the kid inside everyone giggling with delight again and again!

Description of Curious George (Widescreen Edition):
A wild collection of hip actors--from Will Ferrell to Drew Barrymore to David Cross--provide voices for Curious George, based on the classic, gentle children's books. Ted (voiced by Ferrell, Elf) works at a natural history museum that's fallen on hard times. The museum director's son (Cross, Arrested Development) wants to turn it into a parking lot, but Ted offers to bring back a mysterious idol from Africa that's guaranteed to pull in crowds. Unfortunately, the idol turns out to be three inches tall. But Ted (who, before he heads on safari, gets outfitted in head-to-toe yellow, transforming him into the beloved Man in the Yellow Hat from the books) accidentally brings back a lonely yet irrepressible monkey, soon dubbed George. In no time at all George gets into all kinds of mischief--painting an apartment, soaring aloft with a bunch of helium-filled balloons, climbing on a dinosaur skeleton, and generally getting Ted into hot water. Older fans of the books will probably wince at the formulaic save-the-museum storyline, as well as at the obligatory love interest (Barrymore, Charlie's Angels) whose role is utterly passive. Jack Johnson's songs are so bland you can't remember the melodies even as you're listening to them, and the animation (an odd but not ineffective blend of two-dimensional drawing and CGI) has grossly cutified the book's illustrations, eroding their origina charm (the contrast is made sadly clear by a montage of the original drawings over the closing credits). But the basic relationship between man and monkey remains sweet, and younger kids will delight in George's innocent troublemaking. --Bret Fetzer

    Curious George (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
Not the best for little ones. 1 Star Review
2009-09-20 - Our toddler is a Curious George (CG) fan. He was so excited to see George at the start of the movie but lost interest as the movie progressed (there are quite a few scenes where CG takes a backseat to TMWYH and his storyline). We finished the movie later and we were glad our son didn't watch the rest - the part where TMWYH gives CG to animal control is so sad! See the other reviews regarding upset children. I'm sure an older child could understand, but as for us, we won't be watching with our younger son. I only wish we had rented instead of purchased.

Not the man with the yellow hat I know and love! 2 Star Review
2009-07-20 - My 3 year old son loves the tv show, Curious George. We were excited to watch the movie, but before we got half-way through, he was in tears. I just fast-forwarded to the end where TMWTYH was holding George.

Here's the thing. In the show, TMWTYH is warm, generous, smart, has boundless patience, perfect parenting responses and a child-like wonder. The basic cool dad for a 3 year old (monkey), with some eccentricities (like the yellow).

In the movie, TMWTYH is a bumbling, self-absorbed loser with low self-esteem. The yellow outfit was a humiliation forced upon him. The museum is awful and the search for the African idol just underscores the man's lack of character. The first part of the movie, George is constantly seeking affection from TMWTYH. George is ignored or shoo-ed away and lands himself in some scary situations where he is unloved and alone. This is what made my 3 year old cry. He felt so badly for George. Even at night, I heard him call out "George-y, George-y."

I'm very happy that the creators of the show chose to rethink the characters in a way that shows an understanding of young children's minds.

    WONDERFUL 5 Star Review
2009-07-01 - Curious George is the best kids movie it's on the kids humor level it's not geared towards adults like Disney flicks. The movie does say stupid which I don't like but I hope my kids won't catch it. I believe it says it 2 times, or maybe it's idiot. It's one of those two. All in all great movie with a great soundtrack which my girls fall asleep to every night.

Gotta love Curious George 5 Star Review
2009-06-15 - We got an awesome deal on this movie through Amazon. Way cheaper than buying it at the store and they had the option to buy the full screen edition which is nice because we don't have a widescreen TV. My daughter is 3 1/2 and absolutely loves this movie. She's already watched the movie so much that I might be buying another one before you know it!! My husband and I love it too...it's a good laugh!

Great kids movie 5 Star Review
2009-05-22 - This is a great movie for little kids. Keeps them occupied and interest and no violence! The Jack Johnson music is very nice and relaxing.
