Alyssa Milano plays Lily, a Good Girl who moves to LA to attend art school and discovers a secret diary belonging to Ivy, from the previous movie. (That plot point alone should warn you that Poison Ivy 2 bears, at best, a distant resemblance to the original, and more's the pity.) Inspired by Ivy's "philosophy" of pushing all boundaries, Lily decides to explore the dark side of herself, which basically boils down to her chasing after a petulant, self-absorbed sculptor (Johnathon Schaech) and in turn being chased by her leacherous, self-absorbed art teacher. The point of movies like Ivy 2 is to have some fun, a few thrills, and we're done, thank you very much. But the filmmakers felt obliged to lard this thing up with ponderous pretension and Artistic Angst. The result is sort of a cross between Bikini Med School and La Notte, with a happy ending tacked on. Bleh. Milano tries her best to inject a little life and humanity into the proceedings, but it's an uphill climb all the way. --Geof Miller

great series, but full-screen? 
2009-01-12 - this is a great series, the third one being the best. the only problem is that all the movies are on one doubled-sided disc and therefore (i guess) presented in full-screen format. which is too bad. even though in full-screen, it is much better than the "wild things" 3 pack.
Ivy League...
2008-11-17 - How can you beat this collection? All three POISON IVY movies together for one low price! The original POISON IVY stars Drew Barrymore in the title role, as a sociopathic loner who latches on to a wealthy family in order to manipulate, control, and ultimately destroy them. She befriends the lonely daughter, Sylvie (Sarah Gilbert) and quickly moves right in. Tom Skerritt (Alien, The Dead Zone) is the hopelessly Ivy-obsessed dad. Cheryl Ladd is the weak, sickly mum. Drew Barrymore plays her part w/ deadly accuracy. She combines innocence and seduction into a sticky web of deception and murder. Great stuff! In POISON IVY 2: LILY, Alyssa Milano is an insecure art student until she stumbles across Ivy's diary. She uses the diary as her bible, transforming into a super-slut out to seduce all men in her path. This one plays more like a drama, w/ far less tension than the other two IVY entries. Not much in the way of action (aside from the obvious, naked variety) happens until the semi-lame conclusion. If it weren't for the rampant nudity, this could have been another sappy made-for-tv movie. So-so. This brings us to POISON IVY: THE NEW SEDUCTION. I had expected this to be the worst of the three. I was happy to be wrong! Jaime Pressly is the perfect home-wrecker / killer as she merrily goes about ruining as well as taking lives. Violet's (Ms. Pressly) natural heat burns up everything she touches, leaving nothing but cinders in her wake! This gal is H-O-T! Crikey! The plot is somewhat similar to the first movie, with Violet moving in w/ an old friend and taking over her family through lies, sensuality, and multiple homicide. This one has a higher body count, with Violet being even more cunning and cold than the original Ivy in her ability to use people to get what she desires. Well, there you have it. Enjoy this triple-header. I watched all three in a row one afternoon. I recommend extreme caution if you decide to do the same. I nearly died...
Guilty Pleasure 
2008-07-25 - The original is by far the best since it has an actual plot and some decent acting. The second one should not even be in this group and is only watchable due to Alyssa Milano; the quick ending on this movie is just proposterous. The third one is more of a thriller and follows along the storyline of the first, but I felt like I was watching a porn movie (i.e., don't recommend watching with the family!).
First half: dire. Second half: better 
2008-04-26 - Alyssa Milano is one of my favourite actresses, after seeing all seasons of Charmed. She's a natural. So you can pretty much guess why I bought Poison Ivy 2.
You know most of the story from the original movie, and Alyssa basically does nothing apart from look pretty - even in a pair of DUNGAREES she still looks gorgeous. I got a phonecall about 20 minutes in, which made me seriously consider switching it off and watching something else, but I was determined to at least give it a chance. Wish I'd stayed on the phone now!
There's not much depth in the first 40+ minutes of the movie. It's setting up for anyone who hasn't seen the first movie, not that it's repeating the first, but it is incredibly boring. The very, very, very, very, first scene (did I make it clear it was the first scene?), Alyssa appears partially topless and doesn't seem to wear any underwear throughout the rest of the movie.
Basically she moves to a new city after having an illicit relationship with what appears to be her teacher, and is instantly attracted to her male sculptor (think Jason Smith from Sex & The City, and those Absolut Vodka adverts), but is also semi-attracted to her art teacher, who is a total sleaze. She ends up babysitting for her art teacher's daughter (Camilla Belle from Practical Magic) and one thing leads to another. You know the rest.
There's a happy ending tacked onto the end of this, after a pretty shocking incident (which I did not see coming) but it seems worthless after you've sat through the first half of the movie. What should have been done, would have been to scrap the first half and redo it all over. Would have been a better movie for it, because even though the second half is good, it doesn't make up for sitting through the first half. Pretty much watch for Alyssa Milano only. Otherwise steer well clear.
