  • Editorial Review:
Another addition to the ever-growing mockumentary genre. A British camera crew follows Crawford Mackenzie (Craig Ferguson), a Scottish hairstylist, as he travels to Los Angeles to take part in the Platinum Scissors Competition, put on by the World Hairdressing International Federation. Unfortunately, it turns out that Crawford misread the invitation, which was only to be in the audience. But he refuses to let that stop him, and works his way through the L.A. social world. In the process, he befriends Sean Connery's agent (Frances Fisher), who helps him finally get a chance to show the world his hairstyling genius. The Big Tease is at its best when completely indulging its hero--Crawford's delight at the amenities of his hotel, such as electric curtains, is charming and infectious. Ferguson has a gift for a kind of deadpan silliness, a dry humor that never becomes anything but frivolous--in a good way. The plot is beside the point; the ruthless depiction of fatuous L.A. social behavior, however, is sharp. Comedian Larry Miller has a brilliant turn as an unctuous hotel manager named Dunstan Cactus, and there are numerous cameos, including David Hasselhoff and Drew Carey playing themselves. --Bret Fetzer

The Big Tease [Region 2] Reviews:
the queen that is Craig 5 Star Review
2009-12-11 - This film is definitely good for a laugh. It's basically Craig Ferguson acting as silly and fruity as possible whilst mocking the establishment. Anyone who gives it a poor review does not realize that it's a satire.

Craig Ferguson silliness 3 Star Review
2009-10-04 - I'm a big Fergsuon fan, so it really doesn't matter what he is in, I like to watch his humor. He is witty and funny as usual, but I find this story weak. Not nearly as spectacular as Saving Grace.

    Niagara Motel 4 Star Review
2009-08-05 - Its not an academy award winner. But I enjoy anything Craig Ferguson is in. Its a different type comedy. If you enjoy comedies you will like it

    I won't give 1 star, because... 2 Star Review
2009-07-27 - I really love Craig Ferguson. I read his book, I watch his show. I think he is funny + cute + charming. But the movie was just SO dumb. Perhaps I am thankful I saw the movie, because it helped me get over my Craig crush and move on with my life :P

How to Poke Fun at Hollywood Stylists 5 Star Review
2009-05-04 - Craig Ferguson is wonderful as a Scottish hair dresser who thinks he is
invited to an important styling contest in California. There are many funny
scenes as he gets to the contest only to find out he is not one of the
contestants. It mimics many of the stereotypes of Southern California
characters and is a lot of fun to watch.
