The World of Pete and Dud Reviews:
Another nail in the coffee of entertainment 5 Star Review
2006-02-09 - I have as broad a sense of humour as the next fellow but this collection of oddball 'sketches' seemed to border on the incoherent. Not for those who like a good mature chuckle. Intended, perhaps, for students and the like. I was given this as a present some years ago and I then gave it to the local charity shop. The situations are as improbable as they are unlikely. Whoever the perfomers are, I understand why they have used pseudonyms. A very disappointing listen. I'd rather romp through Milngavie in a union-jacked bodystocking.

Classic 1960's English Humour 5 Star Review
2004-09-07 - I have been listening to these classic sketches for many years and they still make me laugh out loud.
This is quintessential English humour at its very best.
The conversations between Pete and Dud are full of exquisite subtleties, absurdities and observations that border
on brilliance. If you like the more subtle underplayed esoteric
Monty Python humour then you will definetly enjoy this collection.

Peter Cook & Dudley Moore do what they do best 5 Star Review
2001-04-25 - Here we are with (as of now, both R.I.P) Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in a series of vignettes, mostly from the "Not Only...But Also" BBC programme. Two of these sketches are, indeed, also on the vid of that name (Art Gallery [Pete & Dud] and A Bit Of A Chat [father and son bit]). Not all bits are the Pete & Dud characters, though--in fact only 2 are. The remainder of the material features other characters derived from the show, although they still fall under traditional Pete/Dud lines. They are: 1) A patient who wishes to kill his psychiatrist, who has to be the most sedated man in the world; 2) Sir Arthur Streeb-Greeling, who teaches (or not as the case may be) ravens to fly underwater; 3) a student who, because of his height, is rewarded for stealing by the headmaster.

Total number of bits is 8, and the only disappointment is that running time is slightly under an hour, almost as long as the Peter Cook VCDs I've been making lately. However, for the serious fan, this is a must (take it from one who is a fan and student of British humour, with about 11,000 hours of the stuff, and more added every day!!!)

Addendum: We lost Dudley after I originally wrote this review, and I can just imagine Dagenham as a quieter place now, and peals of laughter in heaven as 2 of the all-time greats are now reunited for eternity. Our loss now, but maybe a small ray of hope for afters. Thanks for the memories, chaps, you are missed.
