Editorial Review:
Dwight Yoakam's fourth studio album was his most muscular yet. Alongside the overtly rocking cuts, his honky-tonkers also kicked harder than anywhere in his catalog; on top of all this, he gave his loosest, most assured-sounding vocal performances to date. That he cowrote one of the disc's biggest singles, "It Only Hurts When I Cry," with Roger Miller makes perfect sense; Yoakam and Miller shared an ambivalently loving attitude toward the country-music establishment. Yoakam's insistence on going his own way would lead to even more indelible long-players, but If There Was a Way remains among his most impressive. --Rickey Wright

2009-09-09 - I am enjoying Dwight music more the older I get. The music from the back ground players is wonderful.

2008-10-13 - Where do I begin, this is great C.D. Dwight Yoakam is the only country singer I buy. His music is not sappy. He is gutsy and real. This C.D. has great country music in the older style, a little rock thrown in and wonderful lyrics. Dwight is great songwriter. I'm ready to buy more.
This Is a Classic Album!
2008-06-02 - This album features Dwight's wonderful voice, excellent musicianship and production and a nice variety of songs. Best song to me is "It Only Hurts When I Cry," co-written with Roger Miller. I also love everything else except perhaps the last track, "Let's Work Together." That's the only one that's less than stellar for me. The rest are superb, and they make this album a true classic. To me this means most people would like it throughout the years no matter what music they tend to ordinarily listen to. Even if they "hate" country music, they'd have to like this!!
Great Album from a Great Artist
2008-03-18 - This is a great album from start to finish. Dwight Yoakam is a wonderfully talented singer and song writer. Great intro to anyone not familiar with Dwight as an artist!
Dwight Yoakam If There Was A Way
2008-02-08 - With Dwight Yoakam's music there will always be a way. His voice is above uniqueness and he puts his all into all his songs. I totally agree with the late Johnny Cash that Dwight is the best compared to the country singers of this era.
