Knightriders is the story of a troupe of motorcyclists who are members of a traveling Renaissance Faire. Knightriders is the story of a troupe of motorcyclists who are members of a traveling Renaissance Faire. They move from town to town, staging jousting tournaments with the combatants in suits of armor, wielding lances, battle-axes, maces and broadswords. The spectacle of this magnificent pageant soon garners national attention, much to the dismay of the current king of this Camelot. A conflict arises as they try to maintain their fairy- tale existence in a world fraught with corruption. Can they hold on to their Camelot state of mind? This is a finely crafted film written and directed by George A. Romero, who brought us Night Of The Living Dead and Creepshow, and continues in his tradition of visual mastery here with Knightriders. Newsweek said of Romero s talents, "Romero s combination of wit and horror is the best since Hitchcock."

    Knightriders Reviews:
    Blown away!!! 5 Star Review
2009-07-01 - i watched this when i was little. my parents were part of the SCA, and had a whole bunch of medievel movies. This one is a little more modern then Dragonslayer, or Lady Hawk. But great ilm to watch all around. The use of the motorcycles is perfect for this film. This would be a perfect addition to a dvd collection. it's truly a one of a kind film! there will never be anything like it again.

    Knightriders 5 Star Review
2009-05-30 - Knightriders, was the first Ed Harris film I ever saw, modern day motorcycle stunt riders mixed with medieval flare of jousting and sword play make this an unusual but extremely interesting movie. At 145 minutes, it may seem a little long and drawn out, there is enough action and a well written story line to uphold the timeline. Ed Harris and his band of gypsy Carney's travel the country side giving people a modern day taste of what it was like in the days of Knights and Kings. If you have not seen this movie then I highly recommend it as one that should be seen at least once. Ed Harris has gone on to do other movies such as Apollo 13, and A History of Violence with Viggo Mortensen just to name a couple. This one however, made me an Ed Harris fan. If you don't like the medieval lifestyle then you won't like this movie.

Feels like the SCA 3 Star Review
2009-05-02 - I enjoyed Knightriders, but I can't recommend it to everyone. This movie needed a much bigger props budget. The "armor" was laughable. As was the entire concept of motorcycle jousting. But the story line was solid and almost enough to save the movie. The complex internal politics and ever shifting loyalties of the lead characters reminded me of every fractious relationship that I ever hated within the kingdoms and households of the SCA. I could especially relate to the cognitive dissonance suffered by King Billy as he tried to balance his desire for the ideological purity of Camelot with the outside interferences of the mundane world. Director Romero would have been well served by dedicating far less camera time to the greatest weakness of this movie, those insipid motorcycle jousting scenes, and far more time to the greatest strength of the movie, character development. I loved the final sequence.

Still holds up 5 Star Review
2008-09-04 - I loved this movie when it came out in the early 80s, and it is still good today! Yes, you can tell it is a "period piece" that if remade would have souped up bikes and extreme stunts, but it is a good story and doesn't need all the extra flash.

Honestly, it's worth the price of the DVD to see Tom Savini in a speedo!
