  • Editorial Review:
Think of Soul Survivors as a more sincere version of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The night before Cassie (the Gwynethesque Melissa Sagemiller) starts college, she gets into a terrifying car accident with her boyfriend (Casey Affleck) and best friends (Wes Bentley from American Beauty and Eliza Dushku from Bring It On and Buffy the Vampire Slayer). But was it an accident? And who survived? Cassie starts college--but she also keeps hallucinating about frightening men she saw at a party prior to the accident, as well as about undergoing surgery after it. Is college itself the hallucination? These slips from one reality to the next build an increasing sense of discomfort and anxiety--though some viewers may be made more anxious by a scene in which Sagemiller and Dushku step into a shower together. Or do they... --Bret Fetzer

    Eh -- It's o.k. 3 Star Review
    2009-08-28 -

Basically a remake of 1962 "Carnival of Souls".

I wouldn't go out of my way to see this film, but if there is nothing else to watch; it's not too bad.

The young ladies in tight outfits keep you awake. Add a star if you like the actresses.

Big Plot Holes? 2 Star Review
2009-05-24 - This movie was OK. I'm still a little confused about the opening scene. It was really awful and then... nothing ever came of it. Two freaky raver guys commit a horrendous crime that seems to "mean" something. Throughout the movie they pop up to chase the main character. That opening scene is never explained or linked to anything else in the movie. I feel like they just threw it in to make the movie "scarier." By the way, this film is not scary at all. It's more like a drama. Luke Wilson, a favorite of mine, was horribly miscast and his character was almost funny, it was so terrible. He did the best he could... but he was playing a dead priest. I, like many people, was drawn to the movie because of Eliza Dushku... and on the cover of the box she looks like the main character. But no, her part was small and random and odd and the movie was mostly about "Cassie" played by Melissa Sagemiller. Her acting was fine, but I was exhausted by the "plot" which is repetitive and silly.

    The Best... 5 Star Review
2007-10-06 - I Think the movie was very good.
and there was a storyline.the story line was this girl making a mistake by kissin her ex and almost losing her life without telling her boyfriend what she hasn't told him which is that she loves him and she would die for him.
so she gets sucked into a coma or rather a nightmare.

Very weird movie 2 Star Review
2007-06-04 - I watched it from start to finish and don't understand the movie. It is a very confusing movie.
