Your Songs Reviews:
My all-time favorite Elton compilation 5 Star Review
2008-04-01 - 'Your Songs' is my favorite Elton John compilation. Released on MCA way back in the 1980s, this CD focuses strictly on Elton's best period in the '70s. This set features album cuts and classic rock radio staples. It's a great way to get familiar with Elton's music.

I was never too crazy about Elton's 1980s music. His best years were by far his MCA years in the 1970s. Although 'Your Songs' is long out-of-print, if you stumble upon a copy at a cheap, bargain bin-like price, do check it out.

Most of my favorite songs are here. 'Your Song,' 'Razor Face,' 'Elderberry Wine,' 'Take Me To The Pilot' and 'Tiny Dancer' are all here for your listening pleasure.

Overall, this is highly recommended for the new Elton John fan looking for a solid entry point.

Highly recommended. ENJOY!!!

TRACK LIST 5 Star Review

Great sounding CD. 4 Star Review
2004-11-17 - This is an odd little comp as the track listing seems a bit random but it does include several great album cuts.

This CD is somewhat sought after because mastering guru Steve Hoffman was in charge of it. He only had the American copy tapes to work with but the sound is thick and full, unlike the recent SACD's that were EQ'd to be bright with pretty aggressive compression (for music of this vintage anyway). The bottom end on this CD is big and the dynamics are in tact.

It's a fun CD to listen to that isn't yet another rehashed Greatest Hits record.

good songs, bad sound 3 Star Review
2004-10-16 - The guy who wrote the review saying that this disc sounded good must have been trying to unload his used copy. The sound is lousy, even by early MCA standards. Unless you are broke, I would recommend avoiding this one.

Next Best Thing To A Gold Disc 5 Star Review
2003-06-02 - Remastered by Steve Hoffman of DCC gold CD fame, this little-known CD sounds great. The tracklisting may be a little puzzling, but getting Elton classics like "Tiny Dancer" and "Your Songs" on a CD that sounds THIS good makes it a steal. Highly recommended.
