Editorial Review:
If you don't want to know ELVIS, then don't read ELVIS - THROUGH MY EYES. This story will reveal ELVIS's makeup and everything he had to overcome to be the performing KING you love. It is a story that wanted to be written and often wrote itself. Narrated by James Samuel Denson, who was asked by Elvis's mother, Gladys Presley, to help raise Elvis. I believe, friend, you will find as I have, the moment the last letter of the manuscript was typed, that not only you love him GREATLY, but after reading ELVIS - THROUGH MY EYES, you will feel closer to him in person and you may love him and all that he was in his "no way out" life as a close dear friend. Hopefully, you will know and understand the truth of the man as I have grown to know ELVIS who crossed his river Jordan. Heart Lanier Shapre' Las Vegas, NV April 14, 2005
Elvis - Through My Eyes: Why Elvis Left the Building Reviews:
Horrible
2009-11-17 - This is the most awful book ever written about Elvis. It goes so far as to imply that Elvis was retarded.
I knew Elvis Presley and he was one of the most intelligent people I've ever known. He was warm and kind. This Jimmy whatever is nothing but some kind of ego-maniac. He professes to have taught Elvis to speak and even to walk. Elvis was a shy unassuming person but he was never anything like this author says he was. I hope I never meet this person because I might not be too kind to them. This book is TRASH and should never have been published. I caution any true fan of Elvis Presley to save their money.

Excerpt from "Elvis Through My Eyes: Why Elvis Left the Building"
It was the eve of Christmas 1947 when Jimmy Denson first saw Elvis. He was sitting on a stair stoop like a frog. Jimmy was on his way to see his adult friend, Milo Solomito, when his mama asked him to take Christmas dinner over to the Presleys and give it to Grandma Minnie at 562 Poplar. Teh large sack of food consisted of meatloaf a foot long and about eight inches wide, blackened tomatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw and, for desert, a blackberry cobbler. It was a feast that could have easily fed eitht people but there were the four Presleys.
Then on January 2, 1948, at Lauderdale and Jackson, Jimmy met Elvis again. He was about 200 feet down the driveway, crossing an empty dirt field where kids played football. The "Baby" was holding his mama's hand and walking with a stiff walk and his arm stiffly swinging out at his side. They were followed by Jesse Lee Denson.
Jimmy's impression at that point was that Elvis was a big boy with a mind of 6-year-old. By the time they reached the end of the building, Jimmy knew he had to become the young Elvis' protector.
He hadn't been around when the Presleys had first moved there in September because he had been away attending high school in Virginia. When he became too homesick, he came home. In fact, the morning he first met the Presleys was his own first morning to attend Humes High.
The "Baby" had been following Jimmy's brother Jessee Lee in order to watch him play the guitar. It was soon after that Gladys Presley and Mrs. Denson began negotiating Jesse Lee into teaching Elvis the guitar."
"Interesting, enjoyable, surprises, sooched, incredible read. I read the entire ELVIS THROUGH MY EYES in three sittings. This is the only book I know that spells in detail the hardships Elvis, his Mother and Father faced an also overcame the tragic stillborn twin brother of Elvis resulting in an over protective Mother who had to depend on her church (Reverend Denson and family) while his Father took solace in alcohol. Dedication brought him out of it. After reading this book, Elvis Presley was very successful in spite of all the obstacles."

"ELVIS THROUGH MY EYES IS MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER BOOK ON eLVIS. iT IS AN INTIMATE LOOK INTO THE WORLD, THE PHENOMENON AND THE SENSATION THAT WAS eLVIS pRESLEY. tHE anECDOTES, PICTURES AND PRIMARY-SOURCE DOCUMENTS CAN RETURN ALL OF US TO ANOTHER TIME AND PLACE IN AMERICA --AN ELVIS TIME AND PLACE"

"Elvis was more than an icon, more than a paradigm shift in the world of music, more than the sum ofall of this talents and public perceptions. He was most importantly a man who inspired the admiration and devotion of millions because of his humble beginnings, his vulnerable humanity and his life log struggles to overcome his own flaws, faults and personal adversity. Unlike most books about 'The King,' those aspects are what 'ELVIS THROUGH MY EYES' reeals to the world.

Garbage!!!
2006-06-27 - This is the worst written book about Elvis that I have ever read. The author stated that
Elvis's mother got sick in Germany and then traveled back to Memphis. Her timeline and facts are horrible. This lady doesn't have a clue on how to write a book. She rambles from one thought to another with no coherent connection. I wish I had my money back.
