Editorial Review:
"God sent me to piss the world off," Eminem boasts on his breakthrough hit "My Name Is." A grandiose claim to be sure, but it's hard to imagine another rapper generating as much controversy and outrage as this bleach-blonde Detroit MC outlaw while still selling millions of records and becoming a hero to pop fans and hardcore hip-hop purists alike. The sharp-tongued product of crushing poverty and an unstable homelife, Eminem is much more than the goofy smartass he usually portrays himself as. Beyond the artist's inventive rhyming skills and appealingly warped lyrical persona, the multi-platinum major-label albums The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP present a dark, psychologically complex character whose vivid, vengeful rhymes embody a timely collision of Midwestern white trash and urban hip-hop cultures, while portraying an unpredictably violent yet absurdly hilarious world. Adopting the cartoonish yet unsettling persona of Slim Shady, Eminem spins colorfully absurd narratives involving sadistic violence while reflecting the tortured psyche of a deeply conflicted character whose real-life pain lurks beneath the surface of his outrageous alter ego. It's those contradictions that help make Eminem a uniquely compelling artist whose primal appeal transcends boundaries of race and musical genre. Eminem: Crossing the Line, the first biography ever written of this unique pop-culture icon, offers a fascinating peek into the strange and twisted world of Slim Shady.

Eminem: Crossing the Line Reviews:
its ok 3 Star Review
2005-04-29 - I thought this book was o.k. It really wasn't coming from the mind of Eminem it was coming from what was heard and provided me with some false details. Like his birthday, he was born in 1972 not 1975. So I was disappointed when I read that because I was also doing a report on him for one of my classes and come to find out some of the things I had in my report was wrong. However, than again do not get me wrong I learned some things about him that I did not know like his mother always tried to make him sick and he had no father so do not think the book was horrible. However, if you want to know how he got started in rapping and the hard things he had to go through then this book has it. That is what I thought of crossing the line.

WRONG!!!! 1 Star Review
2003-12-01 - I actually haven't bought this book or even read it. Only read the excerpts here on amazon.com and won't waste my money. I am a huge Eminem fan and this guy is WRONG!!!! Eminem was born in 1972-he just had his 31st birthday in October. If the guy can't even get his birthday right I won't waste my time or money!!

A Mixed Bag 3 Star Review
2003-09-04 - This book had everything you wanted to know about Em; however, some of the information was incorrect. The pictures were good though.

Disappointed 3 Star Review
2003-05-13 - I was disappointed when I read this book. This book seemed as if it were written for a 10 year old. It was very easy to read with big print. Most of the information I already knew and Eminem's words were hardly spoken in the book. Don't waste your money.

Inaccurate ... 1 Star Review
2003-04-16 - This book was an attempt to make money off of someone who has adoring fans. This book had little if no input from Eminem himself. I just recently bought HIS book, Angry Blonde. If you want the truth from the guy himself, buy that book instead.
