Editorial Review:
Limited Edition UK-only pressing of the 2006 album from Emma Bunton (AKA Baby Spice) features three bonus tracks: 'Something Tells Me (Something's Gonna Happen', 'Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps' and Por Favour'. Life In Mono is Emma's most honest album to date, an intimate reflection of Emma's life and loves that reveal more than she was ever expecting. Musically it sounds like a rich pop album even at first listen, with rich orchestral backing, gorgeous harmonies and the sort of chorus' Burt Bacharach could be proud of. It moves from the stunningly tender 'All I Need To Know' to cheeky jazz of 'Undressing You' and the luscious Carpenters style of 'I'm Not Crying Over Yesterday's' . Above all it captures Emma's thoroughly modern take on elegant 60's Pop. Universal.

Life in Mono Reviews:
Perfect! 5 Star Review
2008-05-02 - Emma's vocals on this album are perfect. The lyrics in this album are also perfect. I listen to this album usually when I'm cooking or have friends over drinks. This album is perfect for laid back easy environment.

I'm liking it, but not loving it 3 Star Review
2008-03-19 - I'm the first person to review this so far to not give it four or five stars.

I can't see why the previous reviewers adore this album so much. Yes, it's good, but it's not groundbreaking.

Don't get me wrong, I love Emma. I have all her albums - I love A Girl Like Me and Free Me, but they're both better then Life In Mono.

The problem I find with this album is too many of the tracks are similar, Emma tried to go for a 60's sound on too many of the songs instead of doing many different styles. Thus, a lot of the songs end up sounding the same and it's a drag to get through the CD sometimes.

But the album isn't without it's gems - "Undressing You" is an absolutely brilliant track. It's actually my favourite Emma track and this track kept the album at 3 stars. This song is just stunning - the smoky, sexy feel of the song is just amazing. It has really sexy lyrics and Emma sounds great. Top this off with some fantastic music and you have the album's finest track.

Other highlights include:
"Life In Mono" - the title track and an amazing 60's sounding song, a more slow jam of a song but again, fabulous music.
"Take Me To Another Town" - one of the most upbeat songs on the album, this has quirky lyrics and a very catchy feel.
"Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" - a short catchy little track that is impossible not to sing along to.
"Por Favor" - another sexy track about slow dancing, Emma's voice is irresistible on this.

The rest of the album is just average. "All I Need To Know" is quite dull and the single version is a lot better. "Mischevious" sounds like a bad out take from her first album (trust me that album isn't without it's faults) and I don't like "Downtown" (the album's first single) for some reason. The rest of the tracks all sound way too similar to me.

I would like to stress that I am not dissing Emma. I am a fan of hers and I like her previous two albums and some material on this, but overall I find this album to be a lot weaker and not up to her usual standard. 3 stars.

AMAZING! 5 Star Review
2008-02-06 - This CD is one of my favorites! I love every single song on it. It definitely has a different sound from most pop music and I love it! If you are a fan of her and don't have this CD yet, I recommend you buy it.

5 stars always for Emma! 5 Star Review
2007-08-24 - For the two songs..

1. Life in Mono &
2. I was'nt Lukin When I found Love..

I must say I'm her fan all over again!!

Great voice Emma!

Unexpectedly Good 5 Star Review
2007-07-25 - I received this CD in the mail today and finished listening it. I had to write a reveiw of the album. This was definitely better than the last album she has put out. The stand-outs for this one are tracks 3,5,8,9. They display a quality that is playfully mature for Emma. Something we didn't see in the last go around. Her voice illicits a teasing temptation and at the same time an innocence that can only be displayed by the one who was known as Baby Spice. Yes, that image is somewhat following her, but in this album, if you didn't know her previous identity, you would never guess. She has left that identity behind in most ways, but lovingly brings it back in slight glimpses and only at times when she needs it for those certain moments in the songs. Over all, this is a wonderfull album and the bonus tracks are nothing to be ignored. They are as much a part of the ablum as all of the other songs. Downtown and Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps are great and give an extra dimention to this CD. This is a great third outing for Emma and she really is getting comfortable with this new image she has forged for herself. Hope you enjoy this CD as much as I have. You'll see, it is awesome.
