This classic show, featuring Perkins, along with Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Dave Edmunds, Slim Jim Phantom and others, was recorded live at London's Limehouse Studios in 1985 and features Harrison & Starr in their first reunion gig since the '70's.

Description of Carl Perkins and Friends - Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session:
The appearances of two ex-Beatles, including the late George Harrison, are among the principal attractions in this hour-long 1985 TV show, which spotlights one of the prime movers behind the rock-and-country blend known as rockabilly. Carl Perkins, who died in 1998, was the composer of "Blue Suede Shoes" and other classics, as well as a highly influential guitar player. Here he's joined by a host of luminaries, including Eric Clapton, musical director Dave Edmunds, Rosanne Cash, and members of the Stray Cats, in addition to Harrison and Ringo Starr, who perform the Perkins tunes ("Matchbox" and "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby") that the Beatles recorded lo, these many decades ago. But star power notwithstanding, it's Perkins's show all the way. Not only can the man still play, but he's clearly basking in all the attention--as is Harrison, whose rare live performances should be treasured all the more now that he's gone. --Sam Graham

Carl Perkins and Friends - Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session Reviews:
Carl Perkins and Friends 5 Star Review
2009-07-12 - Great DVD (awesome sound and video) with one of the fathers of rock and his disciples...Like going to church for me...young musicians should watch and listen, gaining an understanding and insight where and what they play comes from...

Carl Perkins at his best 5 Star Review
2009-04-28 - The only thing I can Say is 5 stars are not enough. It just does'nt get any better than this. Everyone is in great form. Although I'm a huge Perkins fan, the best part of this video for me , was seeing how much George Harrison was enjoying paying tribute to his good friend. I can honestly say I felt years younger after watching this .

carl perkins and friends a rockabilly sesson 5 Star Review

Wrong DVD Cover 1 Star Review
2008-05-30 - I purchased this DVD - Carl Perkins and Friends - Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session which was released in 2002. Another DVD called Blue Suede Shoes was released in 2006. I knew the DVD's were exact but I figured the covers were different. When it was shipped I found out it was the exact DVD and cover which I already had from the 2006 release. The DVD is awesome but you need to advertise the correct cover. This DVD shipped was the same cover as the Blue Suede Shoes cover released in 2006.

Do NOT buy the VHS 1 Star Review
2007-12-09 - I watched this show on HBO when it first was released and loved the program. My complaints with the VHS are all technical. The picture is grainy and the sound skipped so badly I wouldn't watch it. Spend the money on the DVD and hope it is better, because the program was great.
