Prior to Daniel Craig's appearance in Casino Royale, Ian Fleming's novel had been adapted for the big screen twice. In the first Bond movie (a full eight years before Sean Connery premiered as 007 in Dr. No), Barry Nelson played 007 opposite Peter Lorre (as Le Chiffre). Produced by CBS, this was the world's first glimpse at "Jimmy Bond", in 1954. Next, in 1967, the Casino Royale plot returned, with David Niven and Peter Sellers as 007, and Orson Welles as Le Chiffre. Finally, in 2006 Daniel Craig revised the role, in the most action-packed Bond yet.
