Editorial Review:
Evanescence’s "Anywhere But Home", captures one night of the magic as cameras entered The Zenith in Paris to capture the phenomenon. The two-disc DVD/CD features Evanescence’s sold-out European tour and is offered in both 5.1 and two-track audio mixes. In addition to the live concert DVD, which was directed by Hamish Hamilton (U2, Peter Gabriel), "Anywhere But Home" also includes a CD of the concert presented in a two-track mix, and the previously unreleased studio recording of the composition "Missing." The DVD features the band's four music videos, an hour-long behind-the-scenes program, and some special surprises in addition to the concert film. The special surprises will be discovered by the viewer as they navigate the menus designed exclusively for this special release.
Description of Anywhere But Home (w/ bonus DVD):
Essentially a live showcase for their mega-selling breakthrough Fallen, this CD/DVD combo set chronicles Evanescence in peak form during a subsequent tour stop in Paris. The performances here lean early on the crunch of guitarists John Lecompt and Terry Balsamo (reaching a peak on the the band's potent cover of Korn's "Thoughtless"), but ultimately revolve around the melodramatic, goth-rooted vocal charisma of singer Amy Lee. It's on stripped-down, yet still larger-than-life takes of "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal," as well as the shadowy grace of "Breathe No More," that Lee stakes her claim to the alt.diva throne. Taken as a whole, the forceful renditions here argue that this live recording was hardly premature, instead well documenting the band's more direct musical tack and considerable live chops. The CD contains the appropriately named, previously unreleased studio track "Missing," while the DVD supplements its crisply shot and edited concert performances with four videos and an hour of documentary footage and interviews. --Jerry McCulley
Anywhere But Home (w/ bonus DVD) Reviews:
Love it! Evanescence Rocks!
2009-09-24 - I am so glad I bought this cd. It comes with a bonus disk that contains music videos, behind the scenes content, and live performances. It totally made it worth it as I have always wanted my own copy of their "Going Under" music video. If you like Evanescence, I highly recommend you buy this product.
For any fan of Evanescence!
2009-09-22 - I purchased this becasue it is the live concert on cd that i can listen to anytime as well as the dvd. I liked the DVD. The extra behind the scenes are also a nice bonus. I think it was worth the money and you get some "new" (actually old) songs. A true fan will be sure to own this combo set.
Awesome CD
2009-08-10 - I absolutely loved this CD. The bonus DVD of their concert was a plus also.
DVD OK but CD not
2009-05-12 - The package includes a DVD and a CD.
The DVD that is included is great as you can see the tremendous effort the band puts forth, and the 5.1 Dolby Digital made up for a lot of recording deficiencies.
The special features were wonderful and include a couple of very nice videos.
The CD's recording however was just awful, it sounds like it was recorded from the fourth row with a Mr. microphone
Evanescence "Anywhere But Home" = Great DVD/CD Combo!!!!!
2009-04-03 - The DVD contains 14 songs, filmed at a concert in Paris, France. Amy Lee (An Arkansas Native), is great, and so is her band. This is an excellent concert DVD. The line-up on this DVD/CD Combo include: Amy Lee on lead vocals, Rocky Gray on drums, John LeCompt on guitar, Terry Balsamo on guitar, and William Boyd on bass.
You get 14 songs as follows: "Haunted", "Going Under", "Taking over Me", "Everybody's Fool", "Thoughless", "My Last Breath", "Farther Away",
"Missing", "Breate no More", "My Immortal", "BRING ME TO LIFE" (a HUGE HIT FROM 2003), "Tourniquet", "Imaginary" and "Whisper".
You get extensive bonus material also, which includes the band "trashing" a hotel room. Plus, you bonus videos of some of their songs. Overall, it is a great concert DVD/CD Combo, well worth having. Thanks!!!!
