A Faithful Christmas Reviews:
A Faithful Christmas Indeed!
2009-12-03 - I really try not to be biased in my reviews of Faith because I'm a huge fan of her music. With that being said I absolutely love listening to this c.d during the holiday season. I've listened to this cd every holiday season since it came out in 2005, and it hasn't gotten old yet.
She starts off with Happy Holiday which is beautiful song co-written with her daughter Chyna, very pretty, and airy it reminds us to be thankful for all of our blessings very nice ending as well.
The day that love began would have to be my favorite song on the c.d. It's very powerful and heartfelt, it's sang very traditionaly yet still modern. It took a few times for me to listen to before I really realized what an amazing job she did with the song. (sort of like "Love can't hide", from the Faithfully c.d)
Soulful Christmas is uptempo like the James Brown version, not one of my favorites, but still fun, and even features Faith rapping. You decide.
Santa Baby is really sexy and playful the way that it's meant to be. Very good.
Merry Christmas baby is hot hot hot, very soulful and powerful. Faith really shows out on this song and the horn section is awesome. Probably one of the best songs on the c.d
Misteltoe and Holly is not what you'd expect to find on an R&B diva's cd but there it is. Unexpected, very gentle, soft like fresh fallen snow very sweet.
Christmas Wish isn't a traditional Christmas song, but still works. This song is very infectious, and is all about your significant other. If you have someone special in your life you'll love it. Just a reminder to appreciate your love.
The Christmas Song certainly is a self fulfilling prophecy.(all though it's been said many times many ways) This song will certainly never die, and has truly seen it's share of rendetions. Faith's version is very very good, she makes this Christmas staple really shine. Vocals are powerful with a gospel feel, very nice, you can tell she enjoyed singing this song.
This Christmas is another one of those songs that has several rendetions.None to me can top the Donny Hathaway version, but Faith puts her own twist on this classic. It's very light, sexy and jazzy, the tempo is slower than the original which gives it a different feel than the original more of a for lover's only type feel. Still very nice.
White Christmas has very nice background vocals again very light in the begining, unexpected arrangements really bring this song to life very well done.
Oh come all ye faithful is again an original arrangement by Faith. What makes this song as well as the cd so great is the fact that she takes these songs and make them her own with the arrangements being outside of the box, very comendable, and even more awesome is the fact that they work.
Overall very good! Worth adding to your Christmas, and holiday music collection.
Merry Goodness
2009-10-26 - I like, got it when it first came out. Not perfect, but it is good and worth buying if you like Faith which I do. Her voice is so pure I just enjoy hearing her sing, plus she's very beautiful to me which doesn't hurt - hahaa. Don't understand why people complain, they have samples to listen to first. Why buy something you can sample first then complain, that's not smart. Hope she releases another R&B CD soon, it's been about four years - way overdue. (10/2009)
Loved It!
2007-12-20 - Didn't know Faith had it in her. This holiday album is wonderful. I purchased it not really knowing what to expect and I was very satified with it.
great for the holidays
2006-02-25 - faith sounds great.............her voice is a gift from god.every song is great........any faith fan should have it.
An R&B Christmas Classic
2005-12-16 - I've always been a Faith Evans fan and was thrilled that she released a Christmas album. I'm glad she had a mix of newer songs and older carols. Her voice is in top form and the material on here is great! The styles range from traditional to jazz to r&b to old-school soul. My favorites have to be "O Come All Ye Faithful', "Christmas Song" and "Soulful Christmas." Replying to your Christmas greeting at the end of the record... Merry Christmas to you, too Faith!
