Fefe Dobson Reviews:
Fefe Dobson 4 Star Review
2009-03-29 - I rediscovered this cd as I was going through my collection and felt sad that it wasn't the breakthrough that Fefe deserved. I remember hearing the negative comparisons to Avril and that certainly didn't allow her target population to give her a chance but also the poor promotion by the label didn't fully expose her to the public.

It's a very strong debut collection from a young singer-songwriter which touches on love, friendship and her feelings about her absentee father. Fefe displays her vocal ability on the "softer" moments of some songs and her overly exaggerated phrasing overall gives her vocal stylings a unique sound and at first I didn't appreciate it but the more I listened to this album, the more I grew to like her singing style.

The only criticism I have is that the tracks could've been ordered differently so that not all of the uptempo tracks are lumped together - it would've made for a more interesting listening experience.

My standout tracks are: TAKE ME AWAY (very strong track that caught my attention & made me curious enough to buy the entire album);

EVERYTHING - I like the lyrics and how the softer moments of the song really show off her vocal skills

STUPID LITTLE LOVE SONG - such an unexpected track

UNFORGIVEN - searing lyrics regarding her feelings for her absentee father & what that absence meant to her life

REVOLUTION SONG - beautiful opening lyrics

ROCK IT TILL YOU DROP IT - fun track with a Tone Loc assist

WE WENT FOR A RIDE - I love the musical arrangement and her more restrained vocals

GIVE IT UP - this song starts off as a really sweet sounding track before seguing into an almost rap-like chant

RAINBOWS (hidden track) - really sweet track that's different from any other on the disc, her vocals are excellent.

The Dobson Experience. 5 Star Review
2009-01-05 - Fabulous! Fefe's Debut was HOT When it released in 2003 a couple of years before disney got ahold to this sound and ran with it. Disney made this sound more mainstream and commercial by running it in the ground by giving all the NEW young popstars the exact same Pop/Rock sound. Just about all the Demi Lovato/Hannah Montana clones have adopted this sound, Now i'm sick of hearing it. I still am a fan of Fefe Dobson and I can still remember the day I put this CD in and pressed play, I wore it out. Honestly the entire album is really good, I'm not sure it would be so special in 2009's music market, but this was Fefe dobson's signiture sound when she first came out. there were definatley some other chicks like Katy Rose with a similar style and Hillary Duff had a few songs on different soundtracks with this sound but in every genre there's always the one who's considered "The Best" and that was Fefe. Skye Sweetname came along a year or two afterwards and I think she's cool too. Overall "Fefe Dobson (Album)" is a fantastic album.

Fefe is great!! 4 Star Review
2007-06-05 - I bought this CD pretty much on a whim after I had heard her single, "Everything". Let me say that I didn't like her much at all when her first single "Take Me Away" was out. I'm glad I changed my mind because this is pop/punk slash pop/rock at its greatest. Some songs are catchy while others just have good lyrics. Some songs have both like one of my favorites "Unforgiven". It's about how Fefe's dad wasn't around for anything in her life. I didn't like this song too much before because of the in-your-face approach but it has since warmed up to me.

The highlights are: "Stupid Little Love Song", "We Went For A Ride" "Kiss Me Fool" "Revolution Song" and the saucy "Give It Up".

If you are a pop fan like me, you will probably like this. If you see it somewhere for about 10 bucks, I'd say you've spent your money well.

Btw, this girl blows Avril Lavigne out of the water completely! I heard that her record company didn't want to release her second CD, Sunday Love for some reason, but I also think she's working on finding another label. I hope she picks a good one and continues making good music! I'll certainly be looking out for her!!

Unforgiven 5 Star Review
2007-05-08 - Fefe Dobson's music is great, & she's talented as well as beautiful. She writes, she plays, she sings, she performs. I don't buy much of the newer music, I'm a child of the 60's, for me to spend my $ on it, It must be Special. I heard and saw her first on VH1, but only that once. No further airplay that I know of. A major mistake by network execs. I made it a point to seek out her 1st album- Fefe Dobson. I now own 2 copies, I'll give one away as a present. Word of mouth is getting around about her. But if Whoever decides these things- waits to release her next album until 2010, she'll be forgotten ancient history and she may be Unforgiven by her fans if she lets that happen!!!

Fefe Dobson's Self Titled Album 4 Star Review
2006-12-29 - First of all, I'm technically not a kid, I'm eighteen. I bought Fefe's CD at a discount because I had heard all her hits on the radio and enjoyed them. But when I listened to all the songs on the album, I liked her even more. She is a lot like Avril Lavigne in the dress sense, and sometimes her voice even sounds similar. Her lyrical content is similar too, but the style of music is different. There is a good mix of edginess and pop to this album - with even a little hip hop inserted in track number five. Sometimes her lyrics come out a little childish, such as "Stupid Little Love Song", but the sound is mainly what you need to listen to. Fefe has a great voice and all her songs display it well. Listen to track thirteen and listen to track one back to back and you hardly believe it is the same artist. All in all, this album is worth it to download or buy on discount. I recommend it for fans of Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, and Kelly Clarkson.
