Rumours Exposed: The Unauthorized Biography of Fleetwood Mac Reviews:
Clips Rehashed 3 Star Review
2007-08-08 - Based on no interviews with any of the principles, this rock bio expose uses clips from many contemporary newspaper and mag articles to build a story of how this '70s supergroup fared before, during and after its biggest moments surrounding the albums "Fleetwood Mac" and "Rumours." The usual romantic entanglements are recalled. You'll be quite sick of Lindsey Buckingham's self absorption. But you'll want to go back and re-listen to the great music, which is the real point of books like this anyway.

Very informative and entertaining book 3 Star Review
2006-04-25 - It looks as though there are several negative reviews here for this book. The chief complaint seems to be that none of the information revealed in the book is new information about Fleetwood Mac.

Maybe that's true...but old information to some people is new information to others.

I've been a big fan of FM's music for many years but I didn't know a lot about their history as a band. Sure, I knew a lot of the more popular stories, but there was still a lot I hadn't heard before.

This book taught me a lot more about the band. It's well-written and a fun read.

I think the author did a great job on it.

Ugh 1 Star Review
2004-01-03 - I definitely hated this book. I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, and found had read all of the articles in the book before I read the book itself. I'd found them online... don't waste money, just do an online search!

Big Mac 3 Star Review
2003-10-21 - In the late 60s and early 70s plates shifted and faults widened. Then in 77 the earthquake hit. Landscapes were forever changed. After 77 shock waves continued well into the 90s and beyond, but none had the impact of the original. If you think my metaphor for the career of Fleetwood Mac is cheesy, you should read those in Rumors Exposed. Lame metaphors and cliches are as ubiquitous here as in any Behind The Music documentary. Nicks and Don Henley as the captain of the cheerleaders and star quarterback? Puh-lease. Furman also comes across a little too apologetic for bad behaviour, offering her own interpretations, excuses and psycho-analysis of band members. Her bias is particularly strong in favour of Stevie Nicks (but most fans seem to feel the same way, so this may not be a problem). I would have liked a little more objectivity. But the book is well constructed. Very detailed, and thorough, Furman has a knack for choosing what to put in and knowing where to put it (knowing how to say it is another issue). True, the book doesn't offer much in the way of revelations, but when you're a band this chronicled, there's little in the way of news. Not to say the book is unnecessary. Furman compiled all the relevant info that's out there, sifted out the "who cares?" stuff, and put together a complete, easy to read history of the band. Readers beware: the book was released in 2000 so if you're looking for info about the Mac's last album, you won't find it.

I want to write a book! 2 Star Review
2001-01-05 - If you are a great Fleetwood Mac fan like myself, than you probably have heard or read every article or story in this book . Basically it is a compilation of old articles, and if you think that a book published in 2000 should in some way shed light on the relationships of band members since 97', or perhaps tell us about Lindsey's marriage-please get us an advance and we will get to writing a book that achieves that! lol I'm just kidding, but it would be nice if there was a book written that had some inside sources, so that new stories can be relayed that give us a glimpse into who these people have evolved into now. It's just a thought, and I know that one day when Stevie writes her memoirs we may get what we have been waiting for all along!
