Editorial Review:
UK 17 track edition of this compilation highlighting the hugely successful '70s and '80s period of the band. The tracks have a different running order than the U.S. version and the song 'Over My Head' has been replaced by 'Seven Wonders' and 'Oh Diane' for this import pressing. .Includes songs such as the Stevie Nicks classics "Rhiannon", "Dreams", and "Gypsy", as well as a number of standout tracks by pianist Christine McVie, including "You Make Lovin' Fun" and "Say You Love Me". Additionally, guitarist and songwriter Lindsey Buckingham, who, like Nicks, enjoyed a solo career in addition to putting in time with Fleetwood Mac, is also represented here with excellent songs, including "Go Your Own Way" and "Tusk". This is an excellent primer for anyone unfamiliar with one of the most successful pop bands of a generation. WEA.
Description of Greatest Hits:
These are the greatest hits of the version of Big Mac that produced Hits with a capital H! While pre-Stevie Nicks-Lindsey Buckingham versions of the group charted in the U.K. five times between 1968 and 1973, the post-blues-rock edition of the band reached unprecedented commercial heights beginning with "Rhiannon," a No. 5 smash in the spring of 1976. It's on this 16-track solid-gold set, along with the rest of the hits up through 1988's "Everywhere." A long version of "Sara" and some bonus tracks are included for extra value. --Steven Stolder
Greatest Hits Reviews:
The Fleetwood Mac Hit Machine
2009-10-06 - Released in 1988, this Fleetwood Mac compilation features all the smash hits and, with the exception of "Rumours," represents the group's finest album. Worth having for the unedited "Rhiannon" and "Sara" - not to mention the always-thrilling "Tusk," "Say You Love Me" and "Go Your Own Way." The CD still omits the U.S. Top 20 singles "Think About Me" and "Seven Wonders," but Christine McVie's "As Long As You Follow" is a keeper. An ideal starting point for the uninitiated listener.
greatest hits fleetwood mac
2009-09-29 - If you are a fan of Fleetwood Mac's. I highkly recommend this CD as to me it is one of the best collections of their greatest hits and I have throughly enjoyed listening to it time and time again.
Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits
2009-09-01 - I had purchased this album several years ago but it was stolen from my car. I was very pleased to see I could replace it on Amazon.com. The price, quality and shipping time could not be beat.
All the Greatest Songs of Fleetwood Mac are Here
2009-08-18 - As advertised, this delivers all of Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits (the 1970s and 1980s version of Fleetwood Mac with Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks). Very easy to listen to, very positive and upbeat music. It's like having a really great radio station on for an hour. Because Fleetwood Mac has three lead singers, and three to four different songwriters, the songs do not all sound the same, which keeps the album from getting predictable.
If you own only one Fleetwood Mac album, this should be it. If you are not familiar with their work, they are one of the best pop light-rock bands ever to exist.
Greatest greatest hits collection
2009-08-03 - I also own the two-CD greatest hits collection of Fleetwood Mac, but I prefer this one. It has their best songs on it, and I like the order in which they're arranged. They're still one of my favorite bands of all time.
