Live! Reviews:
Most reissued Mac live album ever! 3 Star Review
2008-07-24 - This is one of the first ever live recordings of Fleetwood Mac, back when they were mainly the blues, along with Cream, Alexis Korner, early Black Sabbath, and John Mayall (Mac is basically a Bluesbreakers spinoff). It was a different animal from the lineup you can now hear on the oldies station. This album is mainly blues covers, including one of Elmore James, an early influence on Peter Green. Some of these were never done in the studio by the band, so this is one for the hardcore fans.
The sound quality is not all that great, like the others said, but this was forty years ago, and they also probably didn't have a large budget for what would be hi-tech for that day. Maybe this was recorded for release but maybe Blue Horizon didn't think they were ready for their own live release (though they shared a couple with other blues acts).
This album has been reissued a number of times, with different covers and names, and is usually a budget item like this. This is more of a gray area release. It's not a bootleg, yet it's apparently not an official release either approved by the band.

Another warning... 2 Star Review
2002-05-28 - This appears to be the same CD as London Live '68 with a new title, so don't get both! And yes, the sound quality is very poor...

Great music, but the sound quality's on the shabby side 3 Star Review
2001-04-03 - First of all, if you're a fan of electric blues or the 60's British blues/rock sound and you haven't checked out the original Fleetwood Mac yet, you're missing out on something you're gonna love.

All of the members were top-notch musicians, but bandleader Peter Green's brilliant blues guitar playing is what makes them stand out. "Greatest guitarist ever" arguments are pointless and a waste of time and energy, so please don't partake in them. But strictly in terms of tone and feeling, Peter Green probably rides together with the great BB King in the limo of all-time blues greatness. According to the liner notes to Fleetwood Mac - Live at the BBC, BB himself said that Green's "globular blue tone...was the only thing he ever heard that made him sweat."

Fleetwood Mac Live! has plenty of those globs of blue for your listening pleasure. Jeremy Spencer's energetic slide guitar is an excellent compliment to Green's slow deep blue agony, and good luck finding a flaw with the rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Danny Kirwan's here on guitar too, giving Green & Spencer more freedom to do what they do. As far as the performance goes, you can't go wrong with this one.

The only shortcoming is the sound quality. It's not terrible, but you'll need to turn up the volume (which isn't a bad thing) and deal with faint and fuzzy vocals.

If this would be your first live Fleetwood Mac recording, you might want to look around for another that would give you the same quality of music without sacrificing sound clarity. If you already have some live Mac but you don't have these songs in your collection, buy it and play it loud!
