Live in Boston 1 (Dig) Reviews:
Wow, My Flashback Realized !
2009-12-05 - I saw the Mac twice. Once in 1968 as a foursome and then in January of 70 with Danny Kirwin with them just about 3 weeks earlier than these Boston recordings. It's rather unique to have a record of what I witnessed at the Filmore nearly 40 years ago! It was one of the best shows I ever saw along with Cream and Jimi Hendrix. Rattlesnake shake and Jumping at Shadows are the standouts, but even Jeremy sounds fine. The band is about as tight as it can get. Buy this!
Can't be Beat
2009-09-13 - I think Josh H. just about said it all. There have been some great guitar combinations but Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer are the best in this genere. They've had some other great guitarists but these three broke the mold.
Music fan
2009-09-02 - The older import versions of these shows in Boston are much better in selection of song versions. Look for the old imports if you want a good idea of the band's power at that time.
Best live classic rock recording I've heard
2009-08-15 - I was lucky enough to see the original FM twice, once on this tour and then again on the next tour, which featured Christine Perfect (later McVie) in support of Kiln House...but this band...with Green, Kirwin and Spencer was simply the best rock band I ever saw back in the day (and I saw plenty, including Hendrix, Cream, Jethro Tull, Procol Harum, the James Gang, Humble Pie, Mountain etc etc etc). No one even came close to FM's level of dynamics and interaction, they really listened to and played off each other, even more than Bruce, Baker and Clapton. And some of the best stuff is really captured on this recording. Get volume 2 as well, it's almost this good. But this one is the best! Outstanding!
Then Play On is the holy grail, but this is also great.
2009-07-31 - Of the three Live In Boston cd's by the original, aka the real Fleetwood Mac, the Peter Green Fleetwood Mac, this is the best, but get all three. However, Then Play On is the quintessential cd of that group. After that, Men of the World: The Early Years is a must have, a 3-cd set including 15-17 minute long live versions of some of their greatest songs, including Green Manalishi, plus lots of other live and studio stuff. The sound quality is superb.
