Fleetwood Mac - Live in Boston Reviews: Live at Boston 2009-09-12 - What a great DVD. Played on my new 58" TV & surround sound. Why it is better than Yani!!!!. This DVD will transport you back to a better time. 2 DVD's & one CD all in one package-great buy for the money.
Great! 2009-08-01 - Recieved the product in a timely maner, and it was in perfect condition. Love the DVD!
Disappointing 2009-06-24 - I've been a FM fan since I was 18 and "Rumours" was released. 35 years later, now, and I read the many reviews of the "Live in Boston" concert. I decided to order it despite several reviewers' comments about the poor audio on this 2004 release. I received it yesterday and watched it all the way through. Although the video and editing are fine, the audio quality is just awful! The sound is muffled and muddy...what a disappointment, especially with the audio technological tools available that could have made this a stellar concert DVD.
I should add that I played this concert through a Panasonic BD55 Blu-ray player connected to a McIntosh MX 136 pre/pro, McIntosh MC 402 amp, McIntosh MC 205 surround amp, balanced Audioquest interconnects (Columbia), Audioquest double biwire Rockefeller and Mont Blanc speaker cables, B&W 803S front speakers, B&W 804s rear speakers, B&W 600 series center, B&W ASW 700 sub, and Panasonic 58" 850U HDTV. Compared to other excellently recorded concert DVD's like Diana Krall's "Live in Paris" and "Live in Rio", Chris Botti, Dave Matthews, John Mayer "Live in L.A.", and FM's "The Dance" concert DVDs, for example, the audio of "FM Live in Boston" DVD pales in comparison.
For me, the highlights of the "FM Live in Boston" concert include Lindsay B's guitar virtuosity, Stand Back, and Mick's drum solo.
If you have an audiophile quality system, don't buy this DVD. Get "The Dance", instead, which has very good audio for its day and shows what FM is capable of achieving...it's wonderful!
Terrific & Timeless! 2009-06-17 - Fleetwood Mac never get's tired. Their music is timeless. This DVD / CD was almost as wonderful as being their in person, to hear the greatest band in the world. Stevie & Lyndsey still share that same magic. They positively exude love. From their voices to their body language. I love the music selections. Some of them I heard for the first time. And the songs from the DVD that were not included on the CD,I downloaded them from the internet. I did not want to be without one song. I recommend this DVD/CD to any Fleetwood Mac fan, and play it for potential fans. Five stars is not enough of a rating for this group. I will never be tired of this DVD/CD. It was very exciting and full of energy. This group is still young at heart. And they actually sound even better than they did when they were young. It would have been nice if Christine McVie was in the video. But all in all, I personally give the rating of 100,000 stars.
Still in love with Fleetwood Mac... 2009-02-03 - I absolutely loved this product. The case is conveniently small and packs together 2 DVDs from the concert in Boston as well as a CD with a selection of those tunes. I won't whine over the guys being old and grey and stuff. I mean, these are real people and of course they get old and grey... What still astonishes me (I got the DVD yesterday and have watched it three times altogether) is the amazing ensemble energy these people still display onstage.
Pitied Christine McVie's absence.... She's definitely a missed piece in the whole ensemble... And I recall her beautiful song "For You", as well as one of my all-time favs "Hold Me"... Thanks Chris for such wonderful music. I guess you had your reasons for not joining my favorite band ever this time...
As for Stevie... I loved each and everyone of Stevie's performances, particularly Stand Back, Beautiful Child, Rhiannon, Gypsy and Goodbye Baby. She is as great as ever. However I think years are taking their toll on their voice, as she strives to get to higher notes by simply yelling. Odd thing is I think she still has the potential to soften a little bit her ever powerful voice. She should because simply, sometimes, it ends kind of haunting and excessively grave. When she in fact softens and lowers the tone of her voice the result is simply wonderful. Delicate... A whole universe of sound as only Stevie Nicks can convey. With her amazing multidimensional voice... As always...
One thing I totally missed were Stevie's stylish high heels and platforms, which she wore only in few of the songs. Why oh why, Stevieeee???
As for Lindsay Buckingham, I have to say he is truly and simply an amazing (yet bit crazy) guitarist. Many guys nowadays wished they could sound half the way Lindsay does. And look as vibrant and energetic. His voice is also still unique and I particularly liked his rendition of "Go your own way". He definitely imprinted a new and fresh tone to many of these anthems we have been familiar with for decades. Although sometimes getting a bit of-hook, but we still love you Linds!
As for Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, they definitely can still pull it together superbly. Arrangements made for Stand Back, Don't Stop are unbelievable good. Stand Back is truly amazing both in the DVD as well in the CD.
...As for special moments... Awww...To me, time stood still when Lindsay and Stevie sung together the truly beautiful and moving "Say Goodbye'. In fact, this song was the reason I buyed this DVD in the first place having seen it in YouTube (later they removed the video due to a copyright matter). The duo's rendition of Goodbye Baby is also highly emotional. Both these songs brought tears to my eyes. guess some people out here are still in love with the idea of a Stevie-Lindsay thing... Just plain fool things... But still we fools still shed a tear or two when the time of remembering good ol' things comes...
As for complaints... I guess I would have appreciated a little more elaborated package, perhaps including some sort of booklet with pictures and trivia about the tour, songs, concert, history of the band, etc... I would also have loved to hear them play wonderful songs such as "Sorcerer" (plain acoustic as it sounded in The Coffee Plant Demos for example).
Being that said... As it is, both the DVDs and CD are great and I would definitely recommend it to every Fleetwod Mac fan out there...
