From its lush, dreamlike opening sequence to its epic landscapes, Don Bluth's THE LAND BEFORE TIME is an enchanting prehistoric adventure. Littlefoot (Gabriel Damon), a little bracheosaurus, finds himself lost and on his own while he and his family journey to the lush feeding grounds of the Great Valley. Littlefoot, along with several baby dinosaur pals, must set out across barren, dangerous terrain to reach the Great Valley, encountering perils and adventures along the way. THE LAND BEFORE TIME is a triumph in animation, using traditional methods to create colorfully detailed scenes and character movement. The film serves as an excellent introduction for small children to the fascinating world of dinosaurs.
Description of The Land Before Time (Anniversary Edition):
This 1988 animated feature from Don Bluth (An American Tail) focuses on an orphaned young dinosaur, Littlefoot, who has to make his way to the paradise of the Great Valley in order to survive a plague. Along the way, he meets up with some other dinos from different species, and they all bond and travel together. On the way, they have plenty of adventures. Even with elements of suspense, this is a pretty relaxed movie that isn't in a particular hurry to roll out its story. Kids will like the originality of the concept, and the themes of friendship and cooperation are well woven into the fabric of the entertainment, plus the music is great. Bluth's artwork looks good, though--as always--he never seems to quite catch up with the quality of the Disney machine. --Tom Keogh

2009-11-10 - I actually have all but one or two of this series. With Great Grandkids coming over..It's nice to be able to introduce them to clean family entertainment! There is a moral in each one if you look and they a all delightful. Have gone through 5 grandkids and 3 great grandkids with this series!
This movie will never get old
2009-09-22 - I recently purchased The Land Before Time for my 3 year old grandson, who is really into dinosaurs. He loved it as much as my children did when they first saw it. It brought back such fond memories for us. This movie will never go out of date.

2009-09-22 - I am very pleased with this movie, it was my favorite when I was a child. The dvd is more convenient of course than our VHS copie. Shipment was prompt and product was in new condition. Very happy!!

Bittersweet and worth watching
2009-08-02 - I love this movie. It reminds me that every moment of life should be cherished and spent with family and friends, when possible. I usually watch it with my daughter, it brings back memories of when she was a baby watching it on my knee.
Great story, great voice acting, great film, deep meaning. A true classic.
