Editorial Review:
It's nothing short of amazing that it's taken George Strait 22 years, 29 albums, countless awards, and a few dozen No. 1 singles to record a live album. This concert, recorded at Houston's legendary Astrodome in 2002, finally fills that void. A straightforward set of hits from across two decades, For the Last Time covers the ones one might expect: early-1980s hits like "The Fireman" and "Amarillo by Morning" through 21st-century cuts such as "Run" (a bit less ponderous here than the studio version) and "She'll Leave You with a Smile." Though he's occasionally downplayed "Murder on Music Row," his controversial, radio-unfriendly duet with Alan Jackson protesting Nashville's paving over country traditions, he sings it here with no apologies. His presence is so consistent throughout that it might have been nice to include a few more deviations from the hits, like the sparkling version of Bob Wills's "Take Me Back to Tulsa" that showcases members of his outstanding Ace in the Hole band. The quality of his studio work notwithstanding, the stage remains Strait's true milieu. --Rich Kienzle

For the Last Time: Live From the Astrodome Reviews:
This is George Strait 5 Star Review
2007-11-13 - This album lives up to everything I had hoped it would. Although it is a live performance, there is no noise which over-rides any parts of any of the songs. I'd say if you don't own any George Strait album, and you like George Strait, this is the album to get.

Must have for fans! 5 Star Review
2007-07-02 - I bought this album b/c it included some of my favorite songs by George Strait such as Amarillo by Morning, Run, and Love without End, Amen. I was pleasantly surprised with songs like Murder on Music Row and Take me Back to Tulsa, which I had never heard before. Those songs are fantastic and the way George sings them makes you put the disc on repeat!

George Strait's voice sounds delightful throughout the show. One of my favorite parts about the album is that you can hear the audience's excitement throughout the cd; you can't help but wish you were there!

This is a must purchase disc, not only for Country Music fans, for anybody that can recognize good music!!

great cd 5 Star Review
2005-12-28 - A few years ago I was in Nashville and I was just getting to like George Strait. I walked into one of the stores to see what they had. This cd was there and I decided to buy it. It was my first, and certanly not my last, GS cd.
I loved all the songs ,a few I had heard (at the time) before, and I loved the talking parts, almost like I was there.
The song "The cowboy rides away" I found out was shortend yet lengthend. If you have heard the cd you know what I am talking about. Needless to say, this cd was the cd that kicked off my love for GS songs and music. If you have not heard it get it. It is a part of history.

An excellent Live CD 4 Star Review
2005-06-23 - I am a BIG George Strait fan and I love country music and live recordings, which tend to show off the best of any Recording Artist. The sound engineering at this concert was excellent with not one "duff" note to be heard. George was right on key all the time.

But why only 4 stars? I am very disappointed with the way the tracks are split and feel that the engineers that created the master for commercial CD production didn't know what they were doing.

COMM/215 Collaborative Review- 4 Star Review
2004-08-07 - This review is an in-class collaborative-writing exercise of a University of Phoenix COMM/215 class.

Those of us who like country music think that "Write This Down" is a well-written song with a positive message.

Those who are not so fond of country music suggest that Mr. Strait improve his vocabulary by finishing grade school.
