Editorial Review:
The follow-up CD to George Strait's platinum selling and CMA Album of the Year, IT JUST COMES NATURAL, is TROUBADOUR. George Strait truly is a modern day troubadour - now in his 28th year of making music,George continues to be an artist driven by his passion to make music of the highest quality.
TROUBADOUR features the smash single "I Saw God Today".
Description of Troubadour:
Well into his third decade at the top, album # 37 for George Strait maintains the consistency and high quality that's marked the vast majority of his work from the start. Like Alan Jackson, he's has always been more comfortable in conventional country fiddle and steel guitar settings, and that's largely where he remains with Troubadour. Even the good-natured, Caribbean feel of "River of Love" is closer to vintage Strait than Jimmy Buffett. The more somber "House of Cash" is a duet with Patty Loveless. It tells the story of the tragic, 2007 fire that took the home of Johnny Cash, and reflects on what could not be obliterated by the flames. Strait reverts to classic, Lone Star State form with "Make Her Fall With Me Song," a honky tonk shuffle in the style of Ray Price or George Jones, while the gorgeous western swing-driven "That West Texas Town" is a duet with Dean Dillon. With Troubadour Strait avoids surprises, if only by virtue of his continuing skill working wonders within a time-honored style. --Rich Kienzle
Troubadour Reviews:
Outstanding CD
2008-10-02 - I love this CD. All the songs are good. My favorites include the title track. I also am completely enthralled with House of Cash (duet with Patty Loveless) and House With No Doors. I play this CD all the time and it is clearly one of my all time favorites.
The real King George
2008-09-28 - The real King George (Strait) arrived in perfect condition along with 2 of his pals (Kenny and The Statlers) Exile has not arrived. I could listen to GS all day.
George Strait delivers again!
2008-09-21 - Troubadour is a great ablum which showcases an abundance of quality country music on one cd. Unlike many of his "contemporaries", Strait sings REAL country music - not the pop/rock stuff that floods today's country radio. You can always depend on Strait to deliver meaningful songs that take you back to the days when country music was sung by cowboys - aka the pre-Garth Brooks days.
I love this album and recommend it to anyone who longs for the country music of years past. If you're a Strait fan - then you have to add this to your collection. If you like Alan Jackson, or even Trace Adkins, then you will enjoy the music of George Strait. My favorite song is "Troubadour" because at times, we all feel like "we're still trying to make a name" for ourselves.
Seeing god and feeling his presence
2008-09-16 - This recent cd by George Strait features a song that has touched so dear to my heart called I Saw God Today. I remember when my daughters were born and seeing a miracle 3 times over, my life has been blessed by the good lord above and I appreciate everything he does for me and I surely thank him everyday. Thank you George for singing this song and putting it out there for me to find happiness of how my life has been.
Troubadour - George Strait
2008-09-10 - This is one of the best George has ever recorded my favourite was "one step at a time" but this album has now become my second favourite every track is a winner in its own right. Would have to rate this AAA plus great cd by a great singer
