Editorial Review:
The first single from Ginger Spice's 1999 solo debut. Musicweek commented on 'Look At Me' by saying '...comparisons to Shirley Bassey seem inevitable, from the single's bombastic vocals to the rich brass section and Hammond-style organ. Pt.2 is backed wit
Look At Me [UK CD1] Reviews:
Geri Halliwell comin' your way!
2000-10-12 - Geri Halliwell's been surprising all of us all our lives. First, she surprised us (with the Spice Girls) with the release of "Wannabe". Second, she surprised us when she left the Best Girl Group in the world on May 30, 1998. Lastly, she surprised us when she returned to the music scene as a solo artist with the single "Look At Me" and the album "Schizophonic". With the debut single, she inched her way up to the 2nd spot on the UK Charts (not bad huh?). Anyways, this CD is an Enhanced one, so you can put it to your PC and the video will play. The video was filmed in Prague and the creativity of Geri was tested. It's a really great one! Now, here's the run down on the CD's tracks... 1. Look At Me --- clearly says what she felt about her experiences. It has a lot to say about almost every aspect of her life. 2. Look At Me (Mark!s Big Vocal Mix Surgery Edit) --- over 7 minutes of non-stop dancing. 3. Look At Me (Terminalhead Remix) --- 6 minutes of non-stop head-banging mixes. Over-all this CD is 4 out of 5. You judge for your own satisfaction.
Look At Her!
2000-07-26 - "Look At Me" is a great song! It was a little bit diffrent than what I expected of Geri but I still love it! The song itself has a great beat and brilliant lyrics. The remixs are good too but kind of hard to keep up with in the begening if you like to sing. Geri has done great with this song and the album. In a way it is a good thing that she split from the Spice Girls and proved that she does have talent but in some ways it's not. I only have one thing to say to the people who thought she wouldn't be able to make it...Look at her now!
Look At WHAT!
2000-06-11 - The song Look at Me was a good song. The single however, was NOT one, she should have started off with. Her remixers did a horrible job remixing this song. The first remix, Mark!s Big Vocal Mix Surgery Edit, is one that sounds like you're traveling through a spaceship computer game. This song switches beats often, and leaves the listener wondering what in the world they were thinking when this song was remixed. The lyrics are slower in this version, and sound different, almost like they're a little muffled to hear the "computer" like sounds. The Terminalhead Remix is one that portrays repetition and again computer like sounds...with her voice. If I had never heard the single and remix before...I would have no idea who sung it. It's a very "rough" sounding song. It's kinda weird...there's a rough beat, but then in the background you hear this beautiful "Cinderella Ball" dance. However, none of that makes up for the horrible remix itself. The only good part on this single is the video (which I love except the part where it's in color), and the regular version of Look At Me.
Geri rules! Girl power!
2000-01-16 - Geri proves she doesn't need the Spice girls to write a great song! Her album is good too check it out! 5 stars for this!
Look at Geri!
1999-12-15 - Geri has proved she doesn't need the Spice Girls to sing a great song! I like the original song, but I hate the remixes. Good work, Geri.
