Give a Little Bit Reviews:
Best cover I've heard
2006-03-21 - In my decades of listening to music, I've almost always disliked "modern" covers of songs I loved growing up (and often own and still like).
This, easily, is the only cover where I like it at least as much as the original... and, I own most of Supertramp's CD's (and many records before that!).
Goo Goo Dolls imparts a "happy" sound to an otherwise "happy-go-lucky" sounding song. Good job!
Just an expensive repackaging of previous albums
2005-06-01 - Don't buy this CD. Two of the three songs, Give a Little Bit (Studio Version) and Give a Little Bit (Live Version), are featured on the Live in Buffalo CD/DVD combo, which you can purchase for just $19.99 at BestBuy.com. The third song, Sympathy, is also played live on the Live in Buffalo CD. There is no track on the CD called Studio Lovers as advertised by Amazon. This is simply another way for the record company, Warner Brothers, to rip off the loyal fans.
I missed The Goo Goo Dolls!
2005-05-28 - I really liked this song a lot. Although it is a remake, I can appreciate The Goos for doing it, because the song has an interesting vibe to it. It's very pretty. Their music combined with Johns vocals has a smooth, melodic vibe to it.
They Gave A Bit
2005-05-18 - The Goo Goo Dolls have really been recognized as one of the most guilty pleasure acts frokm the 90's. While they have done extraordinarily well with great pop songs like Slide, the highly acclaimed Iris, and Name, but when it comes to covers of great songs it just isn't exactly there. The Buffalo groups latest single, the remake of the guilty pleasure song, Give A Little Bit, doesn't really go all out as a long lasting song. It is just fine for awhile and then turns itself down. Nevertheless, it stands out better than songs from Ashanti or Jennifer Lopez could put out.
