Editorial Review:
Highly anticipated debut EP for UK indie act. The turbo boosted four-piece in overdrive may or may not be Damon Albarn, Miho Hatori, Jamie Hewlett and Del Tha Funky Homosapien who the bio says play on this full-on audio attack. Tracks, 'Tomorrow Comes Today', 'Rock The House', 'Latin Simone', '12D3' and the CD-ROM video for the title track. Digipak. 2000 release.
Tomorrow Comes Today Reviews:
The Sounds of Tomorrow
2004-03-11 - Gorillaz first single, "Tomorrow Comes Today", is a melancholic piece of urban pop, where Damon Albarn`s mellow voice makes an excelent combination with the hip/ trip-hop elements and textures. It`s also one of the best moments of the band`s debut album, and one of the most infectious singles of the last years. The CD also includes an english version of the cuban-sounding "Latin Simone" and the hip-hop oriented "Rock the House". As an extra, there`s also the quiet and lo-fi "12D3", probably the less interesting of the bunch but still worth a listen.
A good beginning for an innovative and witty project.

This is tomorrow
2001-03-25 - Unlike the new single "Clint Eastwood", the debut track from the debut album of the Gorillaz is pretty melancholic. The Gorillaz is a supergroup formed by a lot of famous musicians like Dan The Authomator from Deltron 3030, Del Tha Funky Homosapien and the Blur vocalist Damon Albarn. Unlike the previous works of Dan The Authomator, the title track is more of an upbeat trip-hop than hip-hop. With the dry vocals of Albarn, a similar spirit of "Death of a Party"(from Blur's self-titled album) occures.
The B-side "Latin Simone" is one of my favourite songs that Albarn had ever recorded. It also includes a very cool sax solo in it. A very touching and exciting E.P. I just can't wait for the album.
