Editorial Review:
Can't get enough of the Packers? Every Packer fan will find this historical survey of Green Bay's early town football teams unique and fascinating--colorful accounts of individual team members, descriptions of significant games, fan and community reactions, and snippets of actual newspaper stories, from 1895 right up to the day in 1921 when the Packers became founding members of the National Football League. Included are photographs of Green Bay town teams and some of their earliest opponents.
Before They Were The Packers: Green Bay's Town Team Days Reviews:
A Must for Profootball fans
2008-11-17 - A well researched book. Alot of great information.Any one who enjoys this book will also love his book on Johhny "Blood" McNally
An excellent primer on pre Green Bay Packers history
2004-09-08 - As a serious football historian/researcher and writer I found this work to be a valuable addition to my personal library. It is concise, well researched and helps to clear up a lot of the gray area from the period leading up to the Packers joining the APFA/NFL in 1921.
Any football(even the casual) fan will find it a worthy investment in time and a modest sum of money for a great lesson on the last of a very unique sports franchise.
