Editorial Review:
Make a big difference—one small step at a time. For anyone concerned about global warming and other environmental issues, this is the calendar that cares as much as you do. Living Green returns with another year of smart, simple ways to reduce waste, minimize energy use, and otherwise tread more softly on the earth. In the market for a new computer? Consider that laptops are much more energy-efficient than desktops. Rather than bagging or burning autumn leaves, mulch them into compost-rich lawn food. Keep those tires filled! Underinflated car tires increase resistance and take a toll on gas mileage.
Living Green Page-A-Day Calendar 2009 (Page-A-Day Calendars) Reviews:
Calendar
2009-02-09 - This is great once again. It has great tips so if you are looking to be a bit more green and/or more friendly towards the earth this is great for someone just starting out or someone who does a bit more.
disappointed
2009-01-07 - I was hoping there would be more everday living suggestions but that wasn't the case.. it was going to be a present but I didn't give it..
Green-a-Day
2008-12-26 - 2009 Living Green Page-A-Day Calendar / 0761149716
Okay, I admit a moment of irony when purchasing this calendar. I wondered, "Will the first green tip be 'Don't buy Page-a-Day calendars'?" But it's kind of a tradition where I work to buy a Page-a-Day calendar (you've got to have something to look forward to every morning, I guess), and I've memorized all the Dilberts ever published, so this seemed the next best choice.
Though the new year hasn't started yet, I've been cheating and thumbing ahead in my calendar. There are a lot of good tips here, things that I hadn't even thought of myself, even though I've been trying to 'live green' for over a year now, and have several books on the topic. Everything here seems pretty practical, too - I haven't run across anything like 'Give up toilet paper' or something similarly drastic.
Another thing nice about this calendar is that it's an easy way to introduce green concepts to non-green people - I'm one of the few people in the office who recycles regularly, but these tips drive home just how much can be done if everyone chips in a tiny bit. And since the calendar sits out on my desk, several people have noted it in passing and might take that little bit of advice to heart. Oh, and I also recycle the calendar pages, so there's also that.
Worst "green" idea ever?
2008-12-19 - Let's save the environment one day at a time. By creating a page-a-day calendar with one discarded page each day. Sure, it might go in the recycle bin, but it will probably go in the garbage, adding to the problem. There's got to be a better idea than this...
Pleasantly urprised
2008-07-23 - Being a pretty green conscious person to begin with, I expected this to be full of tips and info I already knew. However, it is full of things I hadn't even thought of and that are easy to implement.
I would definitely recommend this calendar.
