The Sweet Escape Reviews:
best song of last year
2008-09-24 - since i dont really want a whole gwen cd i opted out for just the cd single. sometimes its easy to find singles if you get them on time and i lucked out on this one. i just love this song. the video was smoking too. the '' b side'' is a live version of that b-a-n-a-n-a-s song which i dont recall the title off the top of my head. would have liked to have the original cuz its not as good live. but THE SWEET ESCAPE is a great song.
A Sweet Nostalgic Escape
2008-02-04 - Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape" (a collaboration with Senegalese rapper Akron) is a bubbly tribute to '50s music. It sounds like a song that would flow from a jukebox, with waitresses on roller skates and malteds served up. "Sweet Escape" has some inane lyrics about spoiled milk, but it's not worth crying over. It's a fun song.
The second song,"Hollaback Girl",is an awful cheerleader anthem with useless cussing. It's worth skipping.
This album is half-good. Menza menza.
The Sweet Escape is poppy fun, and Hollaback Girl is hip-hop pop OKness...
2007-12-15 - The Sweet Escape (Feat. Akon) - 4/5

Fun, but...
2007-08-02 - ...I liked this song better 20 years ago when it was called 'True Blue' by Madonna.
Love it!
2007-07-11 - I thought "Rich Girl " was just okay but I haated "Hollaback Girl." Gwen should not rap! She should SING and she sings this time which is great. So the radio may have overplayed "The Sweet Escape"--it's ok. It deserved to be overplayed. This is definately Gwen's best song. It features the current favorite Akon and his singing is good too. I normally don't like his songs but I liked him on "The Sweet Escape." He's also barely in it. I liked Gwen in No Doubt and she's pretty good solo too. She's very versatile and I think this is her best single.
