Hank sang with his regular studio band and recorded his hits as well as many songs he never recorded commercially anywhere else. I equate this find to - let's say - the Beatles had recorded 90 songs during their White Album Sessions only to have(we all thought)the tapes lost to a studio fire started by a sleeping - stoned Yoko burning cigarette butt. Fast forward Thirty years. Wait a second, did anybody think to check John's car Trunk. What a find. Run don't walk to purchase this set.

2009-10-27 - The sound quality is excellent. In the cases of the songs which have been released before these versions are interestingly different and enjoyable. I am pleased that Jett Williams went to the trouble she did to make them available to Hank's fans.
3 Complete Shows are Available
2009-10-04 - The Legendary Hank Williams - 4 CD Set
I concur with most of the reviews from people who could not find enough adjectives to describe this wonderful collection. However, in reading the reviews it occured to me that many if not all of you are not aware that there are indeed 3 complete Mothers Best shows available from Amazon dot com. I have provided a link to it. Or just key in The Legendary Hank Williams, as there are other sets with the same title, scroll down to the one featuring Hank in a white suit, with a blue background and is put out by Readers Digest.
It's a 4 CD set and includes the previously released 3 CD's in this set, but also a bonus CD featuring three complete shows. No new Hank songs, but to hear the complete show featuring Hanks own format and comical banter is priceless and the one CD is in my opinion, a bargain for the $44 price tag. I have put one set away in safe keeping and use the other set for everyday listening.
I'll give you a preview of what you're about to hear. On one of my favorite shows, after a spirited rendition of Sally Goodin' by Jerryy Rivers, Louie Buck (along with some of Hank's band members) tries to coax Hank into taking the fiddle and playing a breakdown himself, you'll enjoying hearing Hank squirm on that one.
Do yourself a favor and order a set for yourself, or maybe a Christmas gift to some lucky Hank Williams fan.
