Bands make it rock, but roadies make it roll! Meat Loaf stars in this rollicking (Variety)road film featuring incredible live performances by Alice Cooper, Blondie, Roy Orbison, Hank Williams, Jr., and Asleep at the Wheel! Down-home Texas boy Travis Redfish (Meat Loaf) falls hard for Lola, a glitter-spangled groupie determined to lose her virginity to Alice Cooper. Hoping to woo her, Travis signs on with a traveling rock band and soon finds himself celebrated as the greatest roadie of all time ! But Lola's date with destiny (and Cooper) looms. Description of Roadie:
One the strangest musical curiosities of the 1980s, Roadie stars Meat Loaf as a good ol' Texas boy who turns himself into the world's greatest roadie to win the heart of a teen-age groupie (Kaki Hunter). She, however, is obsessed with Alice Cooper, just one of the musical guest stars in this rock & roll road movie farce. Meat Loaf single-handedly saves concerts by Hank Williams Jr. and Roy Orbison (who duet on "The Eyes of Texas") and Blondie (who crank up "Ring of Fire") as well. Directed by Alan Rudolph, from a slapdash story he co-wrote with producer Zalman King (which surely qualifies as one of the most unlikely creative partnerships in film history), this high-energy cinematic jam is a raucous, disjointed goof. 2009-09-08 - It is a suprise that many people don't know about this movie, it is kind of like it does not exist. Even on the Meatloaf specials on VH1 and E! they neglect even a mention of the movie, which was a highlight of Meatloaf's career after not being able to record the followup release to Bat out of Hell (forgot how to sing).

My Favorite Movie 
2009-05-29 - This movie is the Citizen Kane of dumb comedies. Meat Loaf is a total maniac throughout and nearly every line in the movie is quotable. Hank Williams Jrs version of Outlaw Women is far superior to the studio. Debbie Harry is just so way cute. Too many cameos to mention. Art Carney is classic as well as just about all the other characters start to finish. "You're sucking away all my deodorant." I love the part where Blondie band members get into a fight with a group of midgets. Don Cornelius is awesome. "Why does your roadie remain inert? Times evaporating roadie." And he never does get Redfishes name right. I can watch this movie over and over and spot something new each time.

2009-03-29 - i liked it, dont ask me why, i'm not even a music fan. if it was a diet it would be all calories and no nurishment. maybe that is why i liked it. i think meatloaf is a very talented actor. but what do i know, i like tom arnold as an actor and wish he would make another movie.
Rocky to Roadie
2008-01-18 - You may have seen Meat Loaf in another Musical Comedy The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Roadie is your typical early 80's mad-cap comedy with bar fights, car chase scenes, and chessy dialogue.
Meat Loaf is the main character who upon seeing a young groupie falls in love with her and becomes an accidental Roadie for big acts such as Hank Williams Jr., Blondie, and Alice Cooper.
What makes this movie great is chance to see some of these HUGE musical acts of the early 80's incorporated in to this film. The plot isn't that great but it's the early 80's. Typical boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy loses girl plotline.
This isn't a musical but more of a comedy with rock music perfomances weaved in.

A really fun movie
2007-08-09 - For it's time, Roadie is a great movie in itself. it's funny, sexy, and filled with alot of classic rock. Great cammeo's by Hank Williams Jr. and Roy Orbison to name a couple. Jr. sings Outlaw Women at a bar Redfish (Meat Loaf) set's up at.
The story is Hank Williams Jr.'s road crew breaks down on the side of a Texas road. A pretty woman hitching a ride steps out and catch's Redfish's eye. Two numb skulls diving the truck has no clue what's wrong. When Redfish offers to help, Lola (the pretty woman) talks him in to helping set up Hank Willims Jr. Soon after that Redfish becomes the best at what he does or what he has became a (roadie) but all Redfish is after is Lola and all Lola is ater is Alice Cooper.
I sew this movie on T.V. a long time ago and liked it alot and I was wantting to see it again. Still a great movie
