Editorial Review:
2009 album from the singer, pianist and actor, an album of cover versions of songs requested by his many fans. Like his best-selling Only You of 2004, Your Songs consists of Connick singing familiar songs with a full Jazz big band and string orchestra, and, as with nearly all of Harry's previous albums, he wrote each of the orchestrations himself. He also recruited two of his lifelong friends from New Orleans, Branford and Wynton Marsalis, as well as bluegrass guitar virtuoso Bryan Sutton, for guest appearances. 14 tracks including 'Mona Lisa', 'Smile', 'Just The Way You Are' and more.
Your Songs Reviews:
I Love This Guy
2009-12-16 - Because he is just awesome in the moves, however his vocal range leaves a lot to be desired. He uses the same arrangements as Darin, Sinatra and Bennett and fails to do justice to the vocals. The word thin comes to mind.
Not up to par, Harry
2009-12-11 - Couldn't wait to hear this one. Not going to play it again. Sounded flat and blah. Like they did it in a hurry to make a quick buck off the season. VERY dissapointed, Harry. You are so much better than this album.
Cheesy lounge lizard
2009-12-08 - I agree with those who tabbed this 'cheesy lounge music'. This CD is horrible. Harry sounds like a has been lounge singer...I barely listened to it once, and probably won't listen again. Blech.
It's okay
2009-11-30 - I really like Harry Connick, the CD isn't bad, it's just okay that's why I'm disappointed.
For Connick Lovers
2009-11-24 - For those of us who love Harry Connick, this is a stupendous CD! The arrangements are a little different than the original recordings, but so "Connick" that you have to love them!
