The Silence in Black and White Reviews:
Despite follow-up releases, still a solid album 4 Star Review
2008-10-19 - Note: I'm really sick of all the anti-emo reviews that have been flooded on amazon about the band/album. First of all, this isn't emo. If you want emo, check out pedro the lion, sunny day real estate or early JEW and go from there. Secondly, despite later releases, TSIBAW is still a very solid listen for fans of Silverstein, Thursday and even Thrice. If medium heavy core rock isn't your thing, move along. There's nothing here for you anyway.

The Overview: The Silence In Black and White is the debut record from Victory records mainstays Hawthorne Heights. It gained the band modest success with the singles Ohio Is For Lovers and Niki FM.

The Hits: Obviously, Ohio Is For Lovers is probably the strongest song here. But really, they're all worth a listen.

The Misses: Nothing noteable, save for Silver Bullet, which is borderline filler.

The Verdict: Hawthorne Heights have since undergone some major changes since the release of TSIBAW, both musically and in their line-up. If Only You Were Lonely (2006) saw the band drop most of the screamo and shift into pop-punk, and following the tragic death of a fellow band member, 2008's Fragile Future completely shifted the band into pop-rock territory. Still, TSIBAW is a key must have for fans of the softer side of hardcore.

cut my wrists and blind my eyes 1 Star Review
2008-10-06 - First of all i'd like to say that i like Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, From Autumn To Ashes, early Dashboard Confessional, and other things of that nature and STILL can't stomach this at all. It's complete disposable trash that seems to even be soon forgotten by fans. Ohio Is For Lovers was a catchy enough tune but this music is just wayyy too suburban privalaged white kid cuts themsleve, feels alienated, wears black, crys, no one understands, woe is me, i'd rather write 10 pages in my live journal about suicide then actually killing myself....self indulgent, black eyliner, hot topic, trl, neo-goth, garbage. if you are offended by any of this you should check out My Chemical Romance's album "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" (which i actually like) because it actually more effectivly (and artisiclly) captures this mood. All lyrical criticisms aside, the music is not good either.

Great Album, but I can't find the person who sold it to me w/out the album art or case 5 Star Review
2008-05-29 - I was sold this cd/dvd off of amazon and some loser gave me the two discs in other blank paper cases, like.. there was no case at all. It was listed as a "Used Very Good" item and.. I really can't find anywhere to beat the crap out of this guy for cheating me.

I don't usually buy albums, but I was compelled to buy this one, just because Hawthorne Heights is amazing and I wanted to support them

great cd 5 Star Review
2008-04-07 - not only the cd but also the dvd are amazing. the cd includes demo versions, acoustic versions, and a song as a day in the life....

good cd, but form your own opinion 4 Star Review
2007-12-29 - Stop the hate everybody this is an emo/screamo band, i've heard this album many times before (god bless mp3's) and I am actually about to buy it to pass my time in afghanistan, granted my favorite songs are the singles its still a good album. and just my two cents from a black kid who listens to anything from T.I. and jurassic 5 to avenged sevenfold, escape the fate, chiodos, rise against(3 of 4 albums) thursday, TBS to The Forecast and Billy talent (check these two out) I definitely would say if you wanna rock out give this album a shot everybody loves a lil bit screaming mixed with depression
