Description of Heroes: Season 2:
Don't believe the hype: though some critics and viewers decried the sophomore season of the hit fantasy series Heroes, the core of the program remained as strong as in its debut network run. To be sure, the 2007-2008 Writers Guild strike hobbled the show, and producers stumbled by stranding two of its most intriguing characters: Super-charged Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is taken out of the action after being struck with amnesia, while Hiro (Masi Oka) is sent to feudal Japan, where he encounters his own idol, Takezo Kenzei (David Anders). Both are overcomplicated story arcs, even by Heroes standards, and their connection to the rest of the season occasionally requires some mental gymnastics. But the crux of the season--the Company's development of the power-draining Shanti virus and its potentially devastating effects on both average citizens and superhumans like Niki Sanders (Ali Larter), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis) and primary villain Sylar (Zachary Quinto)--is solid, gripping material. The introduction of new characters like the lethal Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Kristen Bell as the electrically charged (in both the literal and figurative sense) Elle Bishop also up the dramatic stakes, even if their presence may require a scorecard for some viewers. In short, the few kinks in the armor of Heroes: Season 2 ultimately don't detract from the show's drive and vision. Season two spreads its supplemental features across all four of its discs; chief among these are commentary tracks by the cast and crew on all eleven episodes. The participating talent ranges from creator Tim Kring and stars Ventimiglia, Oka, Quinto and Greg Grunberg to composers Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin, which helps to provide a wide variety of information about almost every aspect of the show's production. Featurettes cover everything from the history of Takezo Kenzei to in-depth looks at scenes from the season, while "Untold Stories" explores storylines that were left unfinished due to the writers' strike. The key extras are, of course, the alternate ending to the season finale (which is unfortunately revealed by the rear cover-art text) and an info-heavy sneak peek at Season 3. --Paul Gaita

2009-09-08 - the product was exactly as described. No complaints. I am dissapointed in the actual season - so short! we watched it all in 1 weekend.
Couldn't barely get into it. 
2009-09-06 - I bought season two because i was so addicted to season one. I rush home to put it in, and BAM instant disappointment. First off it had two less discs than season one. (not that big of a deal, i figured it would still be amazing) But then I put it in and I just couldn't get into it. I still haven't finished watching it and I started it a couple weeks ago. It just doesn't have the same suspense and it doesn't keep you interested. Plus, for me, it was quite predictable. I'm going to to try and watch it again and see if it was just an off day for me, but as of now, it was a disappointment, and a waste of 30 something dollars.
Loyal Fan; Slight Letdown
2009-07-28 - I was disappointed by season 2 as a loyal Heroes fan, however, there were redeeming aspects. The writers' strike definitely effected the show and the script fell short throughout the season because of that. The magic of 1st season was that the show seemed as though it had been on the air for three-four years at the time, it was smooth and well-written, with brilliant acting performances.
Season two not only fell short in script, the performances of new characters as well as the awkward stage of one of 1st season's veteran's provided for a disconnect from the season.
Monica Dawson's performance by Dana Davis, was the weakest by far, and I hope not to see her again on the show.
Micah's awkward stage in his early teen years has made him even more annoying, rude as it may be to say so, I do not connect with his character at all. His cheesy camera moments and forced smiles are not cute now that he's in his early teens. His acting is weak and Disney like.
West Rosen by Nicholas D'Agosto is a great potential character, played by an actor who had "the look" I expected he would have, but the acting talent of a 12 year old in his first year in the business. I have seen D'Agosto on the Office and appreciated him for his slight comedic presence on the show, however, his performance in Heroes only brought the show's stumbles to a fall, making another set of characters that I could hardly watch.
That being said, they made up for those weak performances with adding equally stronger ones.
The character of Bob Bishop and his daughter Elle were great performances, very fitting to the drama and mystery of Heroes. The character of Adam Monroe was interesting, a little out there - but I suppose I was already wondering what cellular regeneration would mean for the future and the death of cells from natural causes. I really appreciated his character for the show and his performance did that character justice.
Caitlin was by far my favorite performance on the new season. Katie Carr is a British actress whose Irish accent I thought to be authentic to parts of Ireland, and whose
acting performance I thought to be flawless.
The performances of all of the "elders" if you will - the other generation of Heroes, were all wonderful and really tied the show together in a way that you could call almost fitting.
Though the season was a bit of a disappointment, I am no where near ready to abandon ship, and it's worth getting if not just to understand the plot aspects of a year where almost nothing happened, as well as to get more Heroes, because I don't know about you, but even slightly disappointing Heroes is still more of the show I can't get anywhere else.
