Editorial Review:
Everyone's favorite muck-encrusted plant-man is back in this tongue-in-cheek action-adventure, based on the award-winning DC comic series. Determined to solve the mysterious death of her mother, beautiful horticulturist Abigail Arcane ("Spin City's" Heather Locklear) visits her stepfather, Dr. Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan), in his high-tech laboratory. Unfortunately Arcane is bent on taking her life for the creation of his immortality serum. Coming to her rescue is the former Dr. Alex Holland, now Swamp Thing, who sweeps her away to the heart of the bayou where they soon fall head over heels in love. But their romance goes awry when Arcane ruthlessly hunts down these unlikely lovers with a fiendish array of weaponry! Chock full of witty dialogue, dazzling stunt work and striking special effects, this outrageous action-comedy monster mash also features cult favorites Sarah Douglas (Superman II) and scream queen Monique Gabrielle.
The Return of Swamp Thing Reviews:
looks more like so so TV
2009-04-17 - did not finish the first movies plot and the more adult theme of the first and the better acting of the first film...worth a watch but only ok movie.
Yes and No
2009-02-18 - This movie is a good movie but it's NOT better than the 1st...I've been a Swamp Thing reader/movie fan since I was born and I see too much of the Alan Moore Swamp Thing in this movie and I will forever hate Alan Moore for his potayal of this character. Swamp Thing was better when Len Wein and Berni Wrightson were writing it...but I will say that this does have it's + sides. The suit is better looking, there are more monsters, and Gunn and the two kids are pretty funny. But again theres a line to be drawn between humor and the Swamp Thing...overall if you're a Swamp Thing fan or just a bubblegum 80's fan... you should get it...
I have to confess a fondness for this movie
2008-10-02 - Yes, it is goofy. Yes it is made by the same guy who made the pseudo-Conan THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER. Still, it's entertaining. Actually, I think it is actually better than the original (how did Wes Craven get hooked into that one?). True, you do have the two obnxious kids and Swamp Thing whacking away on creatures with big rubbery heads. Louis Jourdan returns as Arcane (didn't he literally loose his head in the first one), Sarah Douglas as an evil assistant and Heather Locklear as the eye-candy love interest for Swampy (this time completely played by Dick Durock)and it opens with credits from the comic covers to CCR's "Born on the Bayou".
Old Times...
2008-09-30 - I remember watching this film as a kid. It is nostalgic to me now. Not the greatest of movies, but the younger generation likes it. My younger brother sure does.
Swamp Thing is Back
2008-08-29 - This movie brings me back to when I was growing up and used to watch the show Swamp Thing. It tracks with the show. I like the old memories that it brings.
