Editorial Review:
One of the world’s top photographers, Russell James hails from Western Australia. His idiosyncratic work is heavily influenced by his homeland’s open landscapes and extraordinary light. Dream-like images combine the natural elements of air, sun, earth and water. Applauded for his nudes, fashion, as well as distinctive portraiture, his style is instantly recognizable. Whether capturing the daily lives of Australia’s aboriginal peoples, shooting for the famed Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, or crafting the latest Victoria’s Secret campaign, this consummate professional leaves nothing to chance…
Russell James Reviews:
simply one of the best
2009-10-23 - I had bought quite an amount of books from amazon over the past few months, including books from lebovitz, testino, avedon, besson, schatz, bourdin etc.... but this is simply my favourite. the pics inside are very inspiring and beautiful. quality paper was used. each pic will give u a very strong feeling.
he is definitely one of the best photographer in portrait shooting among the younger generation.
Re: What a good book..
2009-09-18 - Well, I have been collecting photography book for years and found that this one is the best, whatever from the higher-grade paper, color, bounding, and quality of photos, etc. I found this book for weeks since it out, but finally got a copy from local book store at USD 170, so expensive, but it deserves it!!
Spectacular
2009-07-06 - This is such a beautiful production. There is his commercial output spiced with some fabulous personal work in the "Nomads" section, and they mix well. Russell is deservedly one of the lauded shooters not only in Oz, but globally. Stands up there with Demarchlier and Knight as someone who can effortlessly cross boundaries between editorial and art
