Editorial Review:
Meet high school student Sam (Hilary Duff), who scrubs floors at a diner, copes with her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and all the while dreams of Princeton (the perfect spot for a would-be princess to find a prince). But maybe she has a Prince Charming already: her anonymous e-mail buddy (Chad Michael Murray), who arranges to meet her at the Halloween dance. Sam panics when Mr. Anonymous turns out to be the coolest guy on campus. Can he love a girl who isn't part of the in crowd? Can fairy tales come true? Sure - but only if Sam stands up for herself and turns her dreams into reality.
Description of A Cinderella Story (Mother's Day Gift Set with Card and Gift Wrap):
If you are one of Hilary Duff's most ardent pre-teen fans, chances are you'll find something to enjoy in A Cinderella Story, but everyone else should proceed with caution. It's an updated fairy tale for the age of instant messaging, which is how Sam (Duff) develops a crush on Austin (Chad Michael Murray) before realizing that this Tennyson-quoting poet-at-heart is actually her San Fernando Valley high school's star quarterback and most desirable hunk. In a role that squanders her proven comedic gifts, Jennifer Coolidge is Sam's Botox-injected evil stepmother, and lame attempts at comedy turn her dimwitted stepsisters into buffoons, like many of the other cast members who struggle to find anything funny in the screenplay. So we're left with the bland, blonde charms of Hilary Duff, who fared better in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, but manages to salvage her mainstream appeal in a comedy for which "cute" is not necessarily a compliment. --Jeff Shannon
A Cinderella Story (Mother's Day Gift Set with Card and Gift Wrap) Reviews:
Hilary Duff shines as a Cinderella growing up in an unhappy home
2008-09-30 - This is a "survival story" of a young girl named Samantha Montgomery, a.k.a. Diner Girl (Hilary Duff). After losing her father in an earthquake, she is "forced" to live under the strict control of her stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) and stepsisters, Brianna & Gabriella (Madeline Zima & Andrea Avery respectively). Life gets tough for Sam as she has to work at the family diner after school, study to get good grades at school so that she could go to Princeton University, and suffer from constant nagging of Fiona. Thanks to the supportive staff at the diner who owed loyalty to her late father and Samantha than to the "dragon lady" Fiona. Her best friend Carter Farrell (Dan Byrd) is a great help in her life even though he is a geek, and an online buddy named Nomad (Chad Michael Murray) makes her love life interesting. Nomad is actually Austin Ames, the coolest kid in school but she doesn't know that and the Nomad doesn't know that his email-pal is the Diner Girl. When they meet at the Halloween dance in their costumes (against the wishes of Fiona), she comes to know her email-pal is none other than Austin Ames, but he doesn't identify Samantha in her Cinderella costume. Later he finds out the identity of his email-buddy; they split, and later, they make up and end of going to Princeton. The staff at the diner helps her to locate her father's will that shows that she owns everything that belonged to her father.
Hilary Duff has performed brilliantly, and her resemblance to another teenage sensation Miley Cyrus (Hanna Montana) is striking. The movie uses several well known songs that include; "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" by Natalie Cole, and "Sympathy" by The Goo Goo Dolls. Several songs beautifully performed by Hilary herself include; "Crash World," "Anywhere but Here, and "Our Lips Are Sealed." This movie very entertaining and recommended for all members of the family.

Another Pretty Good Chick Flick!!!
2008-09-01 - As I've mentioned before, I watch these types of movies on rare occasions. A Cinderella Story was pretty good! Hilary Duff is extremely sexy! Duff plays Sam, who has mean step-sisters and mean step mom. She has been texting Austin Ames. When they meet at a HALLOWEEN dance party, Sam has to hurry and get back to her step mother's diner before she finds out that Sam left. After the dance, Austin goes on a spree to find out who dressed as Cinderella at the dance. If you like Hilary Duff, you'll love A CINDERELLA STORY!!!!
cinderella story
2007-07-30 - a great movie for kids ages 5-35. same basic "cinderella" story with a new modern twist.
Cinderella Story
2007-06-29 - An entertaining story for Hillary Duff fans...or not. Purchased as a gift for twin 10 year old girls who enjoyed the movie.
The Story of The Cinderella
2007-06-20 - I first watched this movie when it came into theatres, and I actually talked my friends into watching this instead of another movie, which was a hit thriller.
The main reason why I chose this over the other movie was not because of the cast members. Though i admit that I admire the beautiful Miss Hilary Duff and Mr Chad michael Murray as many teenagers do out there(hey! I'm only sixteen myself!), I watched the movie because I was attracted by the story.
Cinderella is one of my favourite fairytales since I was a kid, and I am really glad that it's made into a comedy telling the story of a girl. A Cinderella Story illustrates many aspects of lives of teenagers; family, school, friends, part-time job... and it's shouting out to every teenager out there: never give up. Cling onto your dreams. Eventually, everything will be alright.
Fairytales are like dreams of every person out there, no matter you are a kid or you are an adult. Many say that they are like perfections that don't exist. Well maybe they don't. But if you really look and you really try to see, they are there, waiting for you to explore.
