Editorial Review:
This is the deluxe CD/DVD (PAL/Region 0) version which includes 9 music videos. EMI.
Description of Dignity:
In the most dignified way possible, "Dignity"--the title track to this fizz-bomb of a dance-pop disc--sends a disgusted eye-roll and a flagrant puh-lease to underwear-eschewing celebutantes everywhere: "You'd show up to the opening of an envelope," sings Duff, who hangs onto her signature sweetness despite having entered full-on diss mode. "It's not news when you've got a new bag/It's not news when you're looking your best/Come on, give it a rest." Well said. And sung. Not that calling out the phony and the full of it is what Duff, or Dignity, is all about. Mostly, the disc is a beat-studded chronicling of an incredibly healthy 19-year-old psyche: On "Happy," she's happy despite an ex's attempts to make her miserable; on "With Love"--maybe her catchiest, most grown-up song to date--she's willing to accept rejection as long as kindness plays a role in its delivery. Musically, with the help of groove-conscious producers like Tim & Bob and Will.i.am, Duff edges ever closer to adult sensibilities; her goofball Lizzie McGuire days seem far behind. It's an evolution anybody could have seen coming, actually. Has there ever been a starlet with her head on straighter? --Tammy La Gorce
Dignity Reviews:
Diginity
2009-10-11 - Good album, good interview and cool songs. Burn, Happy, Gypsy woman, with love, its a good album overall, lots of pop.
Awesome Cd...
2008-07-16 - This was an awesome cd, The dvd was awesome too, I definitly saw and heard from her what she's learned about her career and how it got started. I'm so hooked on it, i listen to it everyday, I jam out to Gypsy Women, and its going to be my audition dance. I think every fan of Hilary Duff would love this cd. My review is based on the enhanced special edition cd of Diginity.
A breath of fresh air to America's music
2008-05-26 - When Hilary Duff first came out, I considered her another manufactored pop act like Britney Spears. Her first album proved so and her second album showed very little improvement (with the exception of "Fly"). "Dignity" blows both of those out of the water. With a soothing voice and smart lyrics to match, this has been the best American album I've seen in a long while. FINALLY, a celebrity that points out much-needed truth. People like Paris Hilton might be bobbin their head down the road to these tracks having no idea what they mean, but those with intelligence will relate. The words are cleverly put to catchy, fun beats that makes it all more appealing. The DVD included has all of Hilary's music videos except "I Can't Wait" and "Santa Claus Lane" both of which aren't missed much. The only video out of place is "With Love", which kind of contradicts her album's title because of it's "gone too far" on sex appeal. It reminds me a bit too much of the downfall of music artists these days. "Play With Fire" had a decent amount of sex appeal and quickly became my most favorite Hilary video. Finally, she can be regarded as something more than overproduced pop trash and actually be respected artistically. This is a major step up for Hilary and the once anti-Hilary crazies may actually find something they really like in this album. I suggest even you to pick it up. Serious music listeners should take a chance and listen as well. I took a chance and I love it.
Hilary Duff
2007-12-02 - This is a gift which has not been given to the person yet. It would be premature to rate it until it has been viewed.
I love it!
2007-09-14 - Probably the best album of Hilary's. My favourite songs are: Stranger, Play with Fire, Dignity, Gypsy Woman and Burned.
