Buy a new outfit. Be a disco diva. Learn to fish. Take a chance. Travel. Laugh. Love. Sometimes all you need to start really living is a little shove in the right direction – and that’s just what Holly Kennedy gets. From the handsome, big-hearted love of her life. From a series of mysterious letters. And from gal pals who know that a friend in need is a friend in need of some laughs! Based on Cecelia Ahern’s joyful bestseller and boasting a top cast led by two-time Academy Award® winner* Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler (300), P.S. I Love You is your very own message full of fun, love, triumph and romance. Open it now. (P.S. You’ll love it!)

Description of P.S. I Love You:
For those who believe true love lasts beyond this physical plane, P.S. I Love You is a jewel in the romantic-movie crown. With elements of Ghost, Heaven Can Wait, and My Life, the film is an unabashed valentine to the notion of lasting (everlasting?) love. Hilary Swank is Holly, a deeply happy lass married to the most impossibly adorable Irishman on the planet, Gerry (Gerard Butler). When an illness takes him from her, Holly spirals into depression. Then, as if from beyond the grave, communications, gifts, and remembrances from Gerry begin to appear--gestures he'd planned knowing his death was coming. The "communications" with her dead husband could threatened to keep Holly in past, yet they begin to pave a path into her future.

Swank, not a traditional romantic actress, is quite moving as Holly, whose grief and confusion is palpable. Butler will win new continents of fans, largely female, as the yummiest honey one could wish for. Special kudos to the supporting cast, including Lisa Kudrow as a Holly pal, and James Marsters and Kathy Bates, always breaths of fresh air onscreen. Under the sure hand of director-writer Richard LaGravenese, P.S. I Love You is touching, sad (have tissues on hand), and heartbreakingly lovely. --A.T. Hurley

    Funny Movie 5 Star Review
2009-11-07 - Funny movie with sad and moving parts. How to move on after a loss without getting totally lost - loved it

Not worth your time or money 1 Star Review
2009-11-06 - I loved the book, I laughed with Holly, I cried with her, it was just so moving. Being a young newlywed myself I could not imagine losing my husband so soon as she did; and having the strength to move on with life.. I could not stop talking about this book to my husband, as I finished reading for a day I would tell him what was happening. He will not read a book, so I thought we could watch the movie together (he is good that way, he will watch chick flicks with me). Boy was that the biggest mistake ever!! I hated the movie, it was nothing like the book at all!! I was embarrased to have asked my husband sit through those 2 wasted hours that we will never get back. I can't imagine liking this movie even if I hadn't read the book. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time on this movie

28yr old guy cried like a baby 5 Star Review
2009-11-02 - Yes, you read it right in the subject line...I am a regular 28 year old guy who lifts weights, plays video games from time to time, etc. That being said I could not stop crying through this movie. My girlfriend and I watched it together and it just makes you well up with emotion over and over again. It brings to light some poignant truths: that life is short, not to be pedantic (don't let the little things get to you), Love and cherish the people who are special to you. I never particularly cared for Hillary Swank before this (I think it all started when she played "the next karate kid" lol) but now I really like her as an actress. It's such a beautiful movie with a beautiful love story that ended too soon, but such is life...rarely ever fair. "Carpe Diem and remember the important things because they may be gone before you know it" once again are the messages this movie sends. I highly recommend it to anyone.

PS I Love You 5 Star Review
2009-10-27 - This was an excellent movie. My new favorite romantic comedy. Hilary Swank is a two-time Oscar winner who proves that she can do romantic fluff as well as the next leading lady. She has incredible chemistry with Gerard Butler, who has not been getting the best roles of his career. He is far underestimated, in my view, and I hope to see him in more romantic comedies.

Not As Emotional As I Expected 3 Star Review
2009-10-24 - I liked P.S. I Love You more than I thought I would but didn't love it. I absolutely hate being manipulated emotionally and that is what I expected but most of the relationship between Holly (Swank) and Gerry (Butler) is revealed through flashbacks. The movie starts with an annoying and somewhat amusing overtly long fight between the couple. The next scene shows his funeral so the viewer doesn't get too caught up in the story of them, ending up chewing fingernails in dread waiting for the moment the story changes in a bad way.

A feel good chick-flick where the heroine moves out of a rut, wins self-respect and becomes a better person for surviving pain.

A naked man backside parades across the screen and Lisa Kudrow's character plays the field like a talented trout fisherwoman...(is that PC?) tossing bait out and whipping it back, moving with the current til the prize fish bites. I wouldn't recommend it for family viewing or if you are annoyed by the genre.
